Top Chef Seattle Recap: Recounting Memorable Moments From Past Seasons

Keep your enemies close and your knives sharper! Find out which chef’testants’ knife skills are cutting edge when the blades are drawn in this week’s Quickfire challenge on Top Chef: Seattle. Plus sabotage is rampant on the Bravo reality TV series when two chefs cook to save their lives. Judge Wolfgang Puck returns and is joined by culinary super stars Wylie Dufresne, Jonathon Waxman, and Chris Cosentino. Keep reading for all of the juicy details.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Emmy and James Beard Award-winning series that is sure to have lots of drama this season! The winning chef will receive $125,000 furnished by Healthy Choice, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and will earn the title of “Top Chef.”

The contestants are Lizzie Binder from Napa; Micah Fields from Los Angeles; John Tesar from Dallas; Joshua Valentine from Oklahoma City; Kristen Kish from Boston; Brooke Williamson from Los Angeles; Sheldon Simeon from Hawaii; Josie Smith-Malave from Miami; and Stefan Richter from Finland.

The competition is heating up as the contestants put their culinary skills to the test. It takes a mix of personality, knowledge and skills to win the coveted title of Top Chef and everyone is eyeing it up!

For the Quickfire the chefs must sharpen knives and call “check” to see if their knives are sharp enough to cut through paper. Bob Kramer, a master blades smith who makes custom knives is on hand to do the honors. Unfortunately, Josie cuts herself and is immediately disqualified. Micah wins the challenge and gets a Bob Kramer knife and immunity.

In the Elimination Challenge, the chefs pay tribute to the most memorable moments in Top Chef history by cooking healthy versions of dishes from previous seasons. Judge Wolfgang Puck returns and is joined by culinary super stars Wylie Dufresne, Jonathon Waxman, and Chris Cosentino, as well as head judge Tom Colicchio and host Padma Lakshmi.

Josie has season one with roasted chicken; Stefan has season two with red pepper soup and a grilled cheese sandwich; John has season three with risotto; Sheldon has season four with beef carpaccio; Lizzie has season five with seared scallops; Josh has season six with grilled pork tenderloin; Brooke has season seven with smoked salmon; Kristin has season eight with poached chicken breast; and Micah has season nine with duck breast.

The judges select Kristin as the winner and she gets $15,000. In a twist, John and Lizzie are in the bottom two and must cook for their lives! The 10th memorable moment is from this season. John and Lizzie must prepare dishes by using spicy dill pickles. John makes a lamb burger and Lizzie makes a chicken burger. In the end, the judges send home John Tesar.

    John deserved to go home. All he did was make excuses and the way he caused problems for Lizzie was despicable the way he stole her stuff and left the oven door open. Thank God he went home. I got tired of seeing those glasses hanging over his eyes like they were sunglasses.
