In a move we’re sure will anger conservative group One Million Moms, former American Idol judge Ellen Degeneres won yet another People Choice Award for Favorite Daytime TV Host. But a shiny trophy was not the only prize in the works for Ellen — the comedian and talk show host also scored a performance from hit band The Wanted. What a lucky gal!
Last night was a good one for Ellen Degeneres. She won yet another People’s Choice Award, or as she later explained on Twitter, “I’m so happy. I just won my 13th #PeoplesChoice Award. And I’m excited because if I win 2 more I heard I can trade them in for an Oscar.”
We’re sure Ellen Degeneres would trade in all the awards in the world if she could get a personal performance from The Wanted, but as it turns out, she didn’t have to. The band had made an earlier promise to Ellen: if the guys won an award, they’d sing her a song. We’re not sure if they expected to have to deliver on that promise, but they realized that the time had arrived after they won Favorite Breakout Artist. Of course, the band never specified which song, so we’re sure Ellen was a bit surprised when her fave boy band started belting out Afternoon Delight. They ended a brief but very entertaining performance with the following shout-out: “Thank you Ellen for everything!”
If you missed the People’s Choice Awards, you’re in luck — we have the video of The Wanted singing for Ellen posted below! Check it out and then tell us what you think!
