This week, fans watched the season 14 premiere of The Biggest Loser. The two night event also included two eliminated contestants – TC Pool and Nathan Montgomery. Today, the guys chatted with the media about their experience on the show, and what it was like to have Jillian Michaels as a trainer!
The Biggest Loser fans rejoiced when the show returned this week, but just as we were getting to know the contestants, bam, two of them were gone! But don’t mourn for TC Pool and Nathan Montgomery, because both of these guys are ready to tackle their weight loss and adapt a new lifestyle at home. Today, both TC and Nathan spoke to the media about their experience. Check out what they had to say below!
On how the whole Biggest Loser experience changed how they live their lives now:
TC Pool: Before going on the ranch, I had an idea in mind of being healthy. I did it at home, but I struggled because I gave up on myself often. I felt like I needed someone to push me. On the ranch, I feel that Jillian did just that. Coming home I’ve had to focus on it everyday. I know how bad I want it now.
Nathan Montgomery: I learned a lot. The biggest thing I learned was from Jillian, and that is how fitness and my life are not about what I look like. Health to me should be about what I feel like. At home now, I try to better myself everyday and not worry about what people say. Bettering me is what it is all about.
Their favorite memory on the show:
Nathan Montgomery: My favorite memory (and turning point) was day one when Jillian asked us why we gained weight, and why we were fat. For me, the reason I decided to make this decision because I feel like I’ve never been good at anything. She told me that day to stop over judging myself and be a novice at something, so I can get good at something. It really helped me get into mindset of losing.
TC Pool: My favorite memory was the last chance workout. I pushed myself to the limits during that, and I have never done that before. It showed me for the first time that I am willing and able to change my limits and my life. It is something I will always have that will change my life forever.
Their thoughts as they headed home:
TC Pool: I went home feeling really good about myself and eager to workout. As you get through the daily grind, that is when you start digging down deep, thinking how bad you want it. When you get tired, you just have to dig down even more.
Nathan Montgomery: For me, my time there was only two weeks, but you learn so much in two weeks on the ranch. For me it wasn’t about just coming home and looking good for the finale – it was coming home and changing my life. For me, I needed to come home and do this for me, and for my girlfriend. What I learned on the ranch, the mental part of it was such a huge breakthrough, and it’s something I will never forget and needed so much.
Their thoughts on the return of the dreaded red line:
Nathan Montgomery: We were all a big family, and I loved everyone there. It was unfortunate that I didn’t get a chance to fight for myself to stay, but it is what it is. It was a deadly combination of the week two curse with the red line for me.
TC Pool: I like the idea of the red line, but of course, I went home with it. However, everyone there had an amazing weight loss, so it’s hard to wish for someone else to go home. The red line has some good points and bad points.
Nate’s thoughts on Jillian Michaels:
The Jillian you see on television is the real Jillian. She can tell when you’re not motivated or in it, and that’s when she pushes you the hardest and yells. When she knows that you’re in it, she lightens up. She’s a multi-faceted trainer.
TC’s thoughts on Nikki walking off the ranch:
At the time, I didn’t want Nikki to leave because she was my teammate. She worked hard to get on the ranch. She wasn’t chosen at random. It probably was the best decision for her.
