VIDEO Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites: Meet The 10 Favorites

January 13, 2013 10:00 AM by Ryan Haidet

It has only been a few weeks since Denise Stapley walked away with $1 million as the winner of Survivor: Philippines, but CBS is already gearing up to unleash the next edition.  Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites, which has a two hour (yes!) premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m., features 20 contestants made up of 10 newbies (the “fans”) and 10 veteran castaways (the “favorites”). Who is on the next season?  Did your favorite veteran castaway make the cut?  All the details are jammed inside!

The list of returning castaways comes as no surprise to hardcore fans because spoiler sites had their identities pegged down months ago.

Following the same format as Survivor: Micronesia — Fans Vs. Favorites (season 16), Survivor: Caramaon — Fans Vs. Favorites will begin with the 20 castaways divided into tribes of two: Bikal (favorites) and Gota (fans).

Below you will find the full lineup of all 10 returning castaways competing on Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites.

Andrea Boehlke, 23

Current Residence: New York, N.Y.

Occupation: Entertainment Host and Writer

Personal Claim to Fame: Moving to New York from Wisconsin on a whim and I’m still here!

Inspiration in Life: My father, Royal Boehlke — he’s one of a kind!

Hobbies: Horseback riding, sports, traveling and getting paid to talk.

Pet Peeves: New York men who cat-call women as we walk by. I don’t understand what that accomplishes.

Three Words to Describe You: Quirky, driven and fierce.

If You Could Have Three Things on The Island, What Would They Be and Why?

  • Yoga mat — It could serve as tarp/blanket/world’s shortest slip ‘n slide.
  • Juggling balls filled with rice — I’ve always wanted this.
  • A unicorn, but not one that could fly.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: I guess I’m a smidge like Stephenie LaGrossa when it comes to being a force in challenges and being a bit of a tomboy.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: I can’t really get myself to turn down a second adventure of a lifetime, so here I go again!

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: Besides having the outdoors stuff down, I now have one season under my belt and aim to come out of the gate swinging. I’m hoping all of the crazy people will target each other right off the bat.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: There’s so much luck involved, but overall I am pretty good at making friends/alliances and can be pretty sneaky if I want to be. I plan to come out strong and aggressive in an all or nothing fashion and hopefully it works in my favor.

Brandon Hantz, 21

Tribe Designation: Bikal

Previous Season: SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC — 15th castaway voted out/7th Jury Member

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: Money, money, money!

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: Hunting, fishing and fire breathing!

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I almost was the Sole Survivor, but I won’t make the same mistakes again.

Previous Season: SURVIVOR: GABON — 12th castaway voted out/4th Jury Member

Current Residence: Los Angeles

Occupation: Clinical Consultant

Personal Claim to Fame: Being me and never holding anything back.

Inspiration in Life: This implies I want to “be like” someone else — I don’t. Though I do have role models, like my parents. My father taught me that life isn’t fair, and you have to work hard for what you want. My mother taught me the alternative is you can marry the guy who does all that. Both lessons are equally important to me.

Hobbies: Shutting down small talk.

Pet Peeves: So-called “actors” living in Hollywood, reality show losers and anyone who uses the “door open” button in an elevator.

Three Words to Describe You: Snarky, irreverent and opinionated.

If You Could Have Three Things on The Island, What Would They Be and Why?

  • Music — It is outrageous how slow time passes out there.
  • Hat — I aged an extra five years from squinting at the sun last time.
  • Journal — I want to remember every moment out there this time around.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: Randy Bailey from SURVIVOR: GABON. Hands down, no one else even comes close.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: I ran out of bar stories to tell from the first go-round.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: I can handle both the physical and the mental aspects of the game like a champ, and I thoroughly enjoy watching everyone else who can’t.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I don’t have any insecurities. It is my experience that everyone else who plays this game is riddled with them. I plan to break them down and eat them alive.

  • Eckhart Tolle book — It inspires me to DO and BE my best!
  • Backgammon — To use at camp so I can observe other players’ strategy.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: Strong females who played a physical and strategic game – Kim Spradlin and Stephenie LaGrossa.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: The challenge! To see what I am made of.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: I’m mentally and physically tough. I have good intuition. I’m not a quitter. And, I’m a good bridge between people of different backgrounds.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: People underestimate me, but I have the mental, social and physical strengths to outlast and win!

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: To show everyone that I am really not dumb, and in actuality I am a smart, funny guy who just does things in a different way.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: I’m physically strong and easily adapt to my surroundings.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I adapt to working with different personalities easily, and I have enough of an understanding of the game to improvise if necessary.

Francesca Hogi, 38

  • iPod — Nothing tunes out the chatter like music!
  • Floss — Food stuck in my teeth makes me crazy.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: The most awesome contestant you can think of who went out early.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: Two reasons — money and redemption.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: I’m strong. Also, not afraid of snakes or spiders.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I’m tenacious.

John Cochran, 25

Inspiration in Life: My family — for supporting and putting up with me.

Hobbies: Beatles music, guitar and SURVIVOR.

Pet Peeves: Self-entitlement and lack of a sense of humor.

Three Words to Describe You: Brilliant, insecure and neurotic.

If You Could Have Three Things on The Island, What Would They Be and Why?

  • Frisbee — It’s fun and doubles as a dish.
  • Cards — To pass the time.
  • Sketchpad — I like to doodle!

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: I have the humor of Rob Cesternino, the intelligence of Yul Kwon and the candor of Jonathan Penner.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: I love SURVIVOR! I’ve watched it, talked about it, studied it, written about it and dreamt about it for half my life.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: I’m too passionate about SURVIVOR to let harsh elements, starvation, sleep deprivation and abrasive tribemates deter me from lasting all 39 days.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: Having played once before, I know the sorts of mistakes I’m susceptible to making. I didn’t win the last time I played, and I have no desire to repeat history. I still know more about SURVIVOR than virtually anyone else who’s ever played the game. Now I feel more mentally and psychologically prepared to put my theoretical knowledge of the game into practice.

Phillip Sheppard, 54

Occupation: Chief Executive Officer of Enter Software Sales

Hobbies: Skating, basketball, weightlifting and people.

Pet Peeves: People who act like they know everything and do nothing.

Three Words to Describe You: Outgoing, intelligent and a competitor.

If You Could Have Two Things on The Island, What Would They Be and Why?

  • Picture of my son, who I love very much.
  • Buddhist Meditation Bowl

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: Smart players — Boston Rob, Andrea Boehlke and John Cochran.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: To win one million dollars and outwit the other contestants again.

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: I’m a hard worker who easily adapts to the elements in the wild.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: I am smart, can read people well, and I finished 2nd last time around as the The Specialist.

Malcolm Freberg, 25

Tribe Designation: Bikal

Previous Season: SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES — 15th castaway voted off/8th Jury member

CLICK HERE for our previous interview with Malcolm

Current Residence: Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Occupation: Bartender

Personal Claim to Fame: Once I spent over a month with Abi-Maria Gomes, and I’m still considered legally sane by the state of California.

Inspiration in Life: O.J. Simpson, before the murder trial. When he was a kid, he had rickets. For his birthday, when he was still young, his father took him to a signing to meet Jim Brown and O.J. hobbled right up to him and told him he was going to break all his records, which he eventually did. I’m a sucker for underdog stories.

Hobbies: Exercising, writing/reading and partying.

Pet Peeves: Ex-TV stars.

Three Words to Describe You: Charming, brilliant and slightly less cocky than the last time I did this.

If You Could Have Three Things on The Island, What Would They Be and Why?

  • Soap — Not for me; for whoever I end up cuddling with at night.
  • Book of puzzles — Your mind is a muscle and needs to be kept in shape.
  • The Hidden Immunity Idol I never played in the Philippines — Early advantage. Seems obvious.

SURVIVOR Contestant You Are Most Like: This feels like a trick question.

Reason for Being on SURVIVOR: I’m a super-fan of the show. Getting to do it once was incredible. To get a second chance… How could anyone say no?

Why You Think You’ll “Survive” SURVIVOR: Experience plays a huge roll in any situation in life. I made it through 38 days the first time so I have to like my survival odds the second time around. Oh, and I’m also smart, athletic and nice to look at.

Why You Think You Will Be the Sole SURVIVOR: You play the game to win the game. I’m not on SURVIVOR to “have a life-changing experience” or “grow as a person” or “see how far I can make it.” Those things may happen, but that’s not the reason I’m out there. The best thing I have going for me is my single-mindedness and focus towards a single goal: a seven-digit bank account.

Which of these 10 are you most happy to see back in the game?  Who do you think will be an early target?  Anybody in this group of favorites that you don’t think belongs?  Sound off and leave a comment below!

I think several of these returnees are poor choices Francesca, Brandon, Andrea & Erik should not be returning & I barely remember Dawn though she apparently did o.k. I can think of many other castaways who would be more worthy such as Rafe from Guatamala, Natalie from Micronesia, Holly from Nicaragua, Troy from One World to name just 4.

I would have loved to see Ozzy and Malcolm play against each other!
