American Idol alum Chris Daughtry hasn’t made many headlines since the release of his last album, but that’s probably because he is very busy these days – with his children! In a recent interview, Daughtry dished on what his life is like now that he is a dad!
American Idol alum Chris Daughtry certainly has his hands full these days, as the rocker is also tackling toddler hood with his two-year-old twins. But Daughtry wouldn’t have it any other way, as he recently gushed to People Magazine: “Being a father has made me grow up. Life is about more than just me. I’ve got a great wife, great kids and a great life now.”
The rocker, who normally does not give advice, did offer one piece of advice to being a good dad: “You have to be present. When I’m home, I’m home. I don’t work at home unless it’s after the kids go to bed. I don’t want my kids to say, ‘My dad never had time for me.’ They understand that there is a time I have to work, but when I come home, they need my undivided attention. I try to make every moment count.”
And making every moment count hits harder after the Sandy Hook tragedy, as Chris added of the horrific event: “As a father, I was just heartbroken. I can’t even imagine what these families are going through. After the tragedy, Daughtry decided that he would donate 100 percent of the proceeds of his song “Gone Too Soon” to the Connecticut School Shooting Victims Fund.
