Last week on season 14 premiere of The Biggest Loser, it seemed like all we saw were excuses out of the new contestants, and this week, it was time to cut the crap. No, really, the theme this week was all about cutting out the junk food. But could Jillian’s team rise to the challenge, or was she left with one player after the weigh in?
The Biggest Loser returned tonight with a pop quiz that taught us some pretty sad statistics about overweight children. Did you know that 75% of parents to obese children think their kids are perfectly healthy? Yeah, that’s quite scary! Sadly, the losing team of the challenge would be stuck in a “kids” room for over four hours every day of the week. In the kids room was nothing but a few couches, a television, and loads of junk food. Even sadder for Bob Harper, it was his blue team that lost the challenge and ended up there.
The teenage contestants were also not immune to this week’s theme either. The Biggest Loser sent over a doctor/nutritionist to help them and their families aleviate the junk food from their lives, which included personally going through their pantries and throwing all the bad food away, while replacing it with healthy foods. The doctor also spoke to the parents about the positive changes that they needed to make in their children’s lives. Oddly enough, all of the parents of the teenage contestants were also on the heavy side – not surprising.
Jillian was also trying to cut through the crap this week as she took it upon herself to have a heart to heart chat with Francelina Morillo, our guest blogger, who also happens to be one of Dolvett Quince’s contestants. Francelina broke down and revealed that her life is filled with regrets, primarily due to her father. Francelina’s father was an alcoholic who was very “hot and cold” with her, so when he passed she admitted that she felt sad, yet relieved.
The teams also competed in a challenge this week that took them to a carnival where they had to carry ten pound balls through a pit of pure bubble gum. While it looked easy, it proved to be no easy task for the teams. However, Francelina proved exactly how determined she was as she helped her team take the win, and earn a year’s worth of groceries! It’s definitely going to be interesting to watch her overcome her internal struggles this season.
By the far the funniest part of the evening was when Bob Harper decided to surprise his contestants and hold the last chance workout in the “kids” room. Bob whipped out a deck of cards, and used each card for a specific set of exercises, laughing evilly all the while! But, could something so simple help the blue team at the weigh in?
Here is how the teams fared at the weigh in:
Bob Harper’s Blue Team:
Jeff from 359 to 348 (-11)
Michael from 409 to 396 (-13)
David from 278 to 272 (-6)
Alex from 225 to 221 (-4)
Gina from 223 to 215 (-8)
Total team loss of 42 lbs
Dolvett Quince’s Red Team:
Lisa from 225 to 223 (-2)
Jackson from 302 to 300 (-2)
Francelina from 242 to 237 (-5)
Cate from 220 to 218 (-2)
Joe from 326 to 317 (-9)
Total team loss of 20 lbs
Jillian Michaels’ White Team:
Pam from 219 to 210 (-9)
Danni from 234 to 228 (-6)
Total team loss of 15 lbs
That meant that Jillian’s team actually won the weigh in this week, finally! It also meant that Dolvett’s team was on the losing end of the spectrum, and they would need to vote someone out. While most of you were probably thinking that it should have been Jackson to go (for his low percentage of loss), the majority of the team voted for Cate, knowing that she could handle the remainder of her journey at home. And she is! To date, Cate has lost over 40 pounds, and promises to be running marathons by the finale.
