So You Think You Can Dance guest star, Katy Perry, 28, fulfilled her patriotic duty by headlining the 2013 Kid’s Inaugural: Our Children, Our Future concert in Washington D.C. at the Washington Convention Center on Saturday night. The event was hosted by First Lady, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, and was dedicated to America’s military families.
According to E! News, Perry hit the stage wearing a red, white, and blue outfit complete with stars and stripes and a small top hat. She rounded out her look with glittering fishnet stockings and red Mary-Jane pumps. “I’m very proud to be here,” she said. “And to see the Obamas and Bidens here for four more years.”
Nick Canon took the stage as MC. Perry performed some of her greatest hits, such as “Teenage Dream,” “Part of Me,” and “Wide Awake” before closing the show with “Firework.” Usher was also at the event and performed his hits “Yeah,” “Without You,” and “O.M.G.” Others featured at the event were Far East Movement and members of the Glee cast, who took time to remind the crowd of the importance of the youth movement.
First Lady, Michelle Obama wore a pleated, white button down with a glittering yellow belt and jeans. She and daughters, Sasha and Malia enjoyed the show and got down to Perry’s hits dancing and waving their arms in the air. “Now, inauguration is a pretty big deal,” the First Lady said. “But I have to tell you that my very favorite part of this entire weekend is being right here with all of you.”
