Kardashians Victim Of Fake 911 Call

January 21, 2013 06:05 AM by Megan Wilson

As if celebrities don’t have enough crazies to deal with, it seems that the newest trend is to “Swat” them. (And it doesn’t involve hitting!) Since stalking the stars doesn’t seem to work out so well, one crazy Keeping Up With The Kardashians fan decided to call the police saying that there was an emergency at the Kardashian family’s former Malibu home.

“Swatting” is the newest fad.  Individuals call 911 reporting a fake emergency in an effort to get SWAT and specialized law enforcement teams to respond to a fake emergency, taking officers away from other scenes and responsibilities.  Sheriff’s officials and law enforcement are lobbying to make “Swatting” a felony. L.A. County Sheriff spokesperson Steve Whitmore released a statement about the call, saying, “What we want to do is have the legislature turn up the heat on these people,” Steve said. “This is a serious, serious crime.”

The Kardashian family isn’t the only one to fall victim to this dangerous practice.  Latest victims have included Tom Cruise, Justin Bieber, and Ashton Kutcher.  These individuals are using sneaky technology to make it seem as if the call is coming from inside the homes of the celebrities.

The police originally came to the Malibu home, only to discover that the famous family had moved to Hidden Hills.  The officers traveled to the new residence in Hidden Hills only to discover that there was NO emergency.  Kim tweeted about the ordeal after her mom opened the door to find 15 police officers ready to barge in, saying  “These prank calls are NOT funny. People can get arrested for this! I hope they find out [who] is behind this. It’s dangerous & not a joke!”

What do you think of this new dangerous trend?  Let us know in the comments!

I feel that whoever is doing this “swatting” should be punished legally.

They are taking the police force away from real emergency calls that could be life or death situations.

I hope they find these people. This is very serious and not a joke.

Calls of this nature should be mandatory 7 day jail time with a long public service commitment afterwards for parole.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they paid someone to call 911. Everything they do is for publicity, they call and tweet for the paparazzi and everyone to show up. Then these idiots wonder why they have no privacy. They should get a real job, get a life or just go away. They make me sick.
