So, if you’re not sure who Katherine Webb is, no worries. She’s just eating up for 15 minutes of fame (A la Lohan) after a football announcer pointed her out during a game. Katherine is the girlfriend of football player A.J. McCarron, and also Miss Alabama. She’s now joining the ranks as a reality TV star after joining the cast of ABC’s new reality TV show, Celebrity Diving.
Celebrity Diving. Oh joy-as if we didn’t see stars enough doing things like dancing, surviving, out-witting, or bull riding, now we get to see them diving into the water. ABC’s new show is set to premiere mid-march, and will include basketball icon Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, NFL star Ndamukong Suh, Keshia Knight-Pulliam (From the Cosby show), Kendra Wilkinson from The Girls Next Door, and Baywatch star Nicole Eggert.
TMZ originally reported on the new show: “As we previously reported, Webb’s BF was upset that she was getting more attention than his team — so Katherine issued a self-imposed media ban on herself. She also told TMZ she wanted to move to Alabama so she could focus on her relationship with A.J. But when the show came a callin’, Katherine decided she spent enough time in celebrity exile. The show is called Celebrity Diving, both because Diving With The Stars would be too derivative and because calling the cast members “stars” would be stretching it, even by reality TV standards.”
They’re filming the show currently, but we have to wonder who on earth came up with the idea of having semi-”Celebrities” compete in diving, of all things. They’ll be judged by divers Greg Louganis and other Olympic diving vets.
