Malcolm Freberg Was Asked To Be On Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites Just Minutes After Getting Booted From Survivor: Philippines

January 23, 2013 08:00 AM by Ryan Haidet

When Survivor returns next month with its 26th season (amazing, right?), Malcolm Freberg, one of the 10 veteran castaways on the Favorites tribe, will begin the game without much rest.  That’s because filming on Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites began just a few weeks after production wrapped on Survivor: Philippines, which Malcolm finished in fourth place on.  Recognizing he was an extremely competitive contestant, it didn’t take long for host Jeff Probst to decide that Malcolm should return to play the game again. Not long at all….

Probst revealed to EW.com’s Dalton Ross that Malcolm became a realistic candidate for Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites around day 20 of Survivor: Philippines because production felt like he was a star.  “When he was voted out, I think it was maybe, no exaggeration, maybe three minutes after he was voted out when I went to him after his torch had been snuffed and said, ‘Sooooo….’  And he goes, ‘You want me to play again.’” Probst explained in the EW.com interview.  “I said, ‘Wow, how did you know?’ and he goes, ‘I can tell.  I know.  I get it.  I should play again.  And I’m ready.  I don’t even need to go home.  I’m good to go.’  He knew!”

Since Survivor: Philippines didn’t air until after production on Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites was finished, Malcolm, like Russell Hantz on Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains, is the only veteran castaway the other players on season 26 had no knowledge of.  Probst also explains in the EW.com interview that the Caramoan cast was told very little about Malcolm other than “we think he’s a favorite, so read into that whatever you want.”

How will Malcolm fare as one of the “Favorites” when he’s up against nine other veteran castaways and 10 newbies?  We will find out soon enough.  Survivor: Caramoan — Fans Vs. Favorites begins with a massive two-hour premiere on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

Do you think Malcolm deserved to be brought back to the game again?  Of the returning players, who are you most surprised to see?  Who is your favorite of the “Fans” tribe?  Sound off and leave a comment below!

the favourites list is somewhat promising. you don’t have to play 5 times to master this game. that has already been proved by many returning players that played only once: parvati (fans vs. fav.), russel (samoa & heroes vs. villains), boston rob, malcolm.

so let’s see who we have here: 2 loose cannons: brandon and phillip; at least 4 great strategic players: malcolm, brenda, dawn and andria; erik I see as physical threat and wishy-washy player and cochran is there to stir things up. corrine I don’t remember at all and I think francesca will be fairly useless.

it’s interesting to see who will form an alliance with who and who will be voted off first. my prediction is that, if cochran dosn’t form a majority alliance, is the first to go alongside with francesca. there won’t be anyone to drag phillipe all the way to the end so I don’t give him too much chance in this season.

I assume that malcolm, brenda erik and andria will be in an alliance with dawn/brandon at the bottom of the totem pole.
