According to People, D’Amato was involved in a freak accident that left her with serious facial injuries. “It was a total freak accident…We were just kind of monkeying around,” she said, referring to herself and a crewmember, after wrapping production on an indie movie called Cowboys and Indians. She explained she was doing a handstand against the crewmember when something went wrong and they suddenly took a nasty fall. D’Amato landed on her face, crushing her nose, and then the crewmember fell on top of her, causing more injuries to D’Amato’s face.
She was rushed to a local emergency room and then on to a different hospital where a plastic surgeon worked on her nose.
Through the ordeal, D’Amato said, “Everyone looked so sad,” so she tried to put them at ease by cracking jokes. “I didn’t have the best nose in the world to begin with,” she said. “It gave me character…Now I have a nice little nose job. I get a super cute nose.”
But she admitted later, when she was left alone, “I looked at my hands. They were covered with blood.” She explained, “That’s when I thought, ‘Oh, my God, what did I do to myself?’ Of course, I started crying.”
D’Amato is recovering from her injuries. She plans to leave for a belated honeymoon with husband, Adam Friedman very soon. And will start work on a television pilot when she returns.
Get well soon, Lisa!
