On Thursday’s Project Runway premiere, we learned that this season would be the first ever teams edition. And while the designers were shocked and didn’t much care for the idea of working in teams, some were able to adjust and move forward while others stumbled. For Emily, the first challenge was a complete trip and fall and if it hadn’t been for her team, she wouldn’t have sent anything down the runway. Keep reading to see what Emily had to say about being the first designer to be eliminated.
According to Lifetime, Emily said, “It really sucks being the first one out. I won’t have an opportunity to show anybody what I can do because I got knocked out so early and I obviously didn’t accomplish that.”
She added, “This isn’t what I design or how I do it. It’s really sad to go home on something that just isn’t at all me.”
Emily’s design left the judges in shock. “I don’t know what went wrong here but it looks like my 8-year-old daughter made it,” Klum said.
Garcia added, “I have to say that in 11 seasons, I have never seen such an unfinished garment walk down the runway.”
But Emily’s teammates rallied to her side for support. “She really had good ideas and it’s unfortunate to see,” Benjamin said.
Matthew added, “The design was there. The sketches were amazing that we saw.”
“I think my team tried to help me the best they could,” Emily said. “And if I wasn’t on a team, I don’t think I would have sent anything down. It was really sad saying goodbye to everyone.” She explained, “I’m definitely going to miss seeing all of these people all the time.”
“This meant so much to me because I felt like it was my chance to show people what I can do and I’m just really disappointed with myself that that didn’t happen.”
What did you think of Emily’s design? Did you think it was hideous? Or not so bad? Sound off in the comments section and let us know.
