Ghost Hunters Recap: Asylum Of 16,000 Deaths

January 30, 2013 08:01 PM by Ryan Haidet

The TAPS team found yet another super spooky location for tonight’s investigation on Ghost Hunters: The Peoria Asylum in Bartonville, Illinois.  The massive former mental hospital, which opened in 1902, is said to be home to 16,000 deaths throughout its haunted history.  As a result of ongoing renovations, many believe the spirits have been stirred up even more.  In addition to the usual paranormal experiences like disembodied footsteps and strange sounds, the main focus has been on two specific spirits.  The first is the so-called “Woman in White” with long, stringy hair and crazy eyes.  One person even captured a photo of what he believes is the woman in white standing in a window staring back at him.  Then there’s the ghost of Dr. Zeller, a doctor with a tight connection to the asylum.  What evidence was the TAPS team able to capture this time?  Did the woman in white or Dr. Zeller manifest themselves?  Turn down the lights, and read deeper into this article to find out…  if you’re brave enough!

Much like last week, this episode was actually entertaining, creepy and fun — all of the elements that this show primarily missed almost all of last season.

The investigation began with Jason and Steve roaming the hallways asking whatever paranormal presence may be lurking in the shadows.  Although they didn’t spot anything, the duo started hearing strange sounds in the distance.  After moving into the attic, the sounds got louder — especially when Jason mentioned shock therapy.

But they weren’t the only two hearing odd noises.  Britt and KJ chased down a series of sounds as they held an EVP session of their own.  As they moved on to a new location, Britt and KJ used their silly squealing device (which I always think is absolutely ridiculous) and began asking more questions.  Surprise!  Surprise!  The damn chirping device squealed.  Weird?  Yes.  Creepy?  No.  Silly?  100 percent.

One of the coolest, creepiest component of this investigation involved a small doll.  When Tango and Michelle — the newest investigator — initially spotted the doll, they discussed how eerie it was.  When they passed by it a second time, the tiny toy was in a completely different position.  Sure, this could be very easily faked, but it’s still an extremely creepy concept.  What would you do in that situation?  Get excited?  Scream?

After reviewing all of their footage and audio, there was one piece of video that was really interesting from the on-site cemetery as a see-through human-like shape walks by in the distance.  Now that’s what I’m talking about!  Really neat to see.

What did you think of this episode?  Did any of the evidence impress you?  Do you believe in ghosts?  Do you have any strange experiences with paranormal activity?  Sound off and leave a comment below!

Watched it and was disgusted. I used to in my hayday run the tunnels and buildings out there before the rebuild. Several things were wrong. We as citizens do not appreciate them torturing these souls by stirring up bad mojo by mentioning treatments!!! The investigation was a scam. There are multiple building out there all connected underground by tunnels. Though they are caved in the pipes still run through and all the way up to the attics carrying sound. The voices they heard if they did not come from outside since voices carry 100% out there since it is all prarie and all open with multiple busnesses, may have travelled through the pipes, especially above there heads. Sounded like it permiated the walls, makes sense it travelled through the pipes. The leader should know this being a plumber at onetime!! The figure in the cemetary was misrepresented. He looked to me as if he was on the other side of the trees which block his movement enough and kept him out of focus to see if it was really a producer. They show the producers on the inside of the tree line, but not on the other side because their camera would not have read the movement and made the boxes. It was just at the horizon where the focus was starting to degrade, so it looks blurry and see through. You never see the producers. Why? They show several in the cemetary “debunking” the figure. So I believe they are the ones running around off camera making footsteps and bangs and little dolls falling, etc. It was slipshod job. There are a few sites that list interviews from previous cast and they state the investigations are not always legit. The one with Meatloaf was one. You could see a person reach in the bathroom window and move something while they were filming in the living room of a boat house. When they went back to the bathroom, Meatloaf’s water bottle was moved. They later blacked out the window to hide this, but the intitial showing you could see and they were caught. FRAUDS!!
