American Idol guest star, Beyonce, and husband Jay-Z have always kept matters concerning their personal lives private. But now, for the first time, Beyonce opens up about the saddest and most painful time in her life, when she had a miscarriage. Keep reading for more details.
While Beyonce is the gushing, proud mama of 13-month old daughter, Blue Ivy, things in the baby department haven’t always been so happy. According to US Weekly, Beyonce experienced the tragic loss of her first baby. “About two years ago,” she explained, “I was pregnant for the first the first time. I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.”
She said she and her husband were excited about having a baby. She had “picked out names” and had even “envisioned what [her] child would look like. I was feeling very maternal,” she said.
But in the early stages of her pregnancy, something went wrong. One week, things were fine and the next, “I flew back to New York to get my check up,” she said, “and [there was] no heartbeat.”
Naturally, dealing with the unexpected loss of her child was a heartbreaking time and she turned to music to help her get through it. “I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I’ve ever written in my life…and it was actually the first song I wrote for my album,” she said without revealing the title of the song. “It was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through.”
Thankfully, pregnancy number two was a success and baby Blue Ivy was born. She described the pregnancy saying, “Being pregnant was very much like falling in love. You are so open. You are so overjoyed.” She explained, “There are no words that can express having a baby growing inside of you, so of course you want to scream it out and tell everyone.”
