Last night on Project Runway, James was the second designer to leave the competition when his ball boy outfit failed to fit the vibe of Spin, a ping-pong social club owned by actress, Susan Sarandon. Keep reading to see what James had to say about his elimination.
According to Lifetime, James said, “Honestly, just to get here is a big deal.” And despite the fact he only stayed in the competition for two weeks, he said, “I’m a winner at heart regardless.”
“I should have just been more selfish in the aspect of just taking control,” James said referring to how team members inundated him with questions and doubt regarding his original design.
Right from the start, as James shared his sketch with his team; they doubted whether he could pull it off. Cindy asked if he would “have time” to complete the design.
Then when they went to Mood to shop, Samantha questioned his fabric choice saying, “Are you okay that it’s stretchy like that?” And as their 30-minute shopping time drew to a close, other designers yelled at him to hurry. But he said, “I’m waiting for a ticket.” He barely made it as Tim called time.
And again in the workroom as he tried to pull his look together, Samantha said, “Where are you at [on the shirt] is it going well…James, are you done?”
Even Tim Gunn questioned the look of his original shirt design saying it was a “mess.” And Matthew agreed saying, “I think you should just scrap that shirt.”
“I dropped the ball by not doing things correctly because this is just a competition,” James said. “I shouldn’t have cared about anybody else.”
Regardless of what everyone else thought, James said, “I don’t feel like I should go home because I still have so much to show. I think it’s just such a shame that I just didn’t get the chance.”
What did you think of James’ design? Did the judges make the right decision by sending him home? If not, who do you think should have gone home instead? Post a comment below and let us know.
