“Cry Me A River” was an anthem for many betrayed lovers back in the early 2000′s, and while Justin Timberlake has never admitted the song was aimed at X Factor judge Britney Spears, the music video starred quite a doppelganger. At one of Justin’s first concerts from his return to music, he hurled an insult that many fans thought was directed at Vegas-bound Britney. What did he say? Find out after the jump!
Justin Timberlake recently returned to the music arena after a 5 year break, which included his marriage to Jessica Biel. At a DirecTV Super Bowl Party in New Orleans, which benefited Shriners Hospital, he was flanked by stars such as David Arquette, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sofia Vergara. Justin took the stage to perform some of his hits-new and old. Before singing his hit, “Cry Me A River” (Which as been re-mastered by singers like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez), Justin said, “Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out that she is just some b***h.” Ouch. His comment hit Twitter like a bomb, and tweeters were lashing out at Timberlake.
Justin decided to do some damage control, and tweeted about the outrage. ”Ok. I see you. Wouldn’t disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever. #Relax #ItsBritneyB***h I do love that saying though *with accent* #Respect (sic)”
It seems that Justin is either doing some major backpedaling, or honestly thought his comment would go unnoticed. Back in 2011, Justin acknowledged he harbored no ill will towards Britney. In an interview with Vogue, he said, “I wish her the best — that goes without saying. We haven’t spoken in nine or ten years,” he admitted. “We were two birds of the same feather — small-town kids, doing same thing. But when you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense. I won’t speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person.”
Do you think that Justin was lashing out at Britney? Or was he just trying to introduce the song? Let us know in the comments!
