Carrie Underwood is one of the biggest names in Country music today, and she is definitely one of the biggest stars to come out of American Idol, along with fellow female winner, Kelly Clarkson. So, why is it then that we have not seen a female winner in years? Carrie Underwood is one of the many fans who feels that it is time for another female winner!
Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are the two biggest stars to come out of American Idol, so it’s a bit confusing (and frustrating) that we have not seen a female winner in years. Yeah, we know – it could likely be all the teenage girls that are voting, but perhaps it is time to change that? Underwood, who is also a fan of the show, plans on doing her own voting this season. Carrie spoke to the media recently while in Nashville, and said: “I’m always excited to watch the show and definitely will throw in some votes of my own. I would like to see another female take it home, I think it’s time.”
Carrie Underwood, like many of us, has heard the early predictions that we will see another male winner this year, but she reminded fans that those predictions don’t mean anything. “I don’t know how I pulled off a win the year I was on. That year, they said a guy was gonna win and they were wrong, fortunately. Thank goodness,” Underwood went on to explain. But while they may have predicted a male winner that year, if Underwood did not win, we all would have been left wondering if the voters were deaf.
