Are you still sick of political ads several months after the 2012 election? Well, you’re out of luck — campaign season has begun anew. And the latest target? Ashley Judd, potential Senate candidate and star of Who Do You Think You Are?
Ashley Judd has long been rumored as a possible candidate for the upcoming Senate election in Kentucky. Even Ashley’s mother Naomi Judd has added fuel to gossip, claiming that, “Ashley would be absolutely one of the best things that ever happened to politics.”
Suffice to say, American Crossroads does not agree with Ashley’s mom. The conservative group has released a new ad in which everything about the actress is mocked, from her liberal viewpoints to her possible Tennessee origins.
This certainly isn’t the most hard-hitting TV ad American Crossroads has produced, but then again, election season isn’t in full swing quite yet. Mostly, the ad is intended to make Ashley Judd think twice about running for Senate. American Crossroads spokesman Jonathan Collegio explains, “For a novice in politics who may not have a taste of what the NFL is like, this is just a taste for her of what would be much more to come. We want to stick a pin in her balloon.”
Soon after stumbling upon the American Crossroads ad, Ashley responded with a brilliant statement finely treading the line between gracious and sarcastic: “Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn’t been made yet.”
Would you like to see Ashley Judd run for United States Senate? Or do you feel that the actress is not a serious contender?
