Ashley Judd has not officially launched an election bid for the United States Senate, but that’s not stopping conservative group American Crossroads from targeting the Who Do You Think You Are? alum in a new political advertisement. And according to one of American Crossroads representatives, Ashley better get used to the negative attention.
When you’re in the public eye, you’re always party to criticism. That being said, the criticism escalates to a whole new level for those choosing to depart the world of entertainment and enter the political sphere. Such is the case for Ashley Judd, who has been pondering the race against incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell for some time now. Ashley was targeted in a recent negative ad released by conservative Super PAC American Crossroads. And it looks like this is the first of many attempts to discredit the actress.
Commenting on the Ashley Judd political ad, American Crossroads representative Jonathan Collegio said, “If she’s really interested in getting into this race and joining the NFL, she’s going to get some knocks. This is just a first taste of that.”
Jontathan Collegio adds that American Crossroads is keen on investing more on primary races in the future. “Somewhere between four to seven U.S. Senate seats were lost over the last two election cycles, not because of the messages that the Republican party had but because of the messengers, the lack of candidate discipline, as well as a lack of ability to raise sufficient money to compete.”
