Last week on The Biggest Loser, Bob Harper’s blue team’s winning streak finally came to end, and unfortunately, David Jones was sent packing. This week, the teams went back to singles, but did that also mean the drama returned along with the yellow line?
What would Valentine’s week be without some sweets? Yeah, that’s exactly how The Biggest Loser kicked off this week – with a temptation challenge. After being told they were going to singles this week, the remaining contestants were put in a room full of goodies, in the dark, where only the viewers (and Alison Sweeney) could actually see who was eating what. And despite the amount of large men still left at the ranch, believe it or not, the girls ended up stuffing their faces.
The funniest part of the entire challenge was that everyone assumed that Gina, who happens to be a diabetic by the way, was stuffing her face, but she wasn’t – she did play along well, though. It was actually our own guest blogger Francelina and Alex who battled it out for the most sweets, with Jeff eating a few small chocolate nut clusters. With a two pound advantage for themselves and another player on the line, I was shocked that more of them didn’t eat.
Francelina ended up winning the challenge by a few measly calories, because…well, when you consume 1,000 calories, what’s a few more, right? Lucikly for Alex, Francelina made a sweet gesture and gave the other two pounds to her. Needless to say, the trainers were not impressed, and now that they were singles, the trainers chose who they wanted this week. Jillian Michaels took all three of sweet eaters, exclaiming: “If you play, you must pay,” with a devilish grin. Bob Harper took on Jackson, Joe, and Danni, who was terrified to be away from Jillian.
Then we saw a quick update on Lisa Rambo, who is now down almost 80 pounds, and she looks gorgeous! Back at the ranch, things took a turn for the worse during Jillian’s workout when she and Jeff began to battle, but then Jillian did what she does best – a good ole heart to heart to find out what was eating Jeff. Turned out that the chip on Jeff’s shoulder was that he still had so many emotions over the death of his father. Then it was time for a check in with the kids, who are all doing great at home.
Challenge time this week had a Valentine’s Day theme as well, with the winner getting to bring one family member to the ranch for one day, and then gifting the same prize to another contestant. After dressing up in a bunch of strange neon bodysuits, the contestants had to sprint accross what appeared to be a skating rink, one by one being eliminated in each round when they placed last. Off topic – what did you all think of Alison’s pink hair? I think it works well on her, very cute.
But, back to the challenge. It came down to Joe, Danni (shocker), and Francelina. It was no surprise that Danni won, yet again – but who did she share the win with? Well, Danni proved exactly what Valentine’s Day is all about – and what the new season of The Biggest Loser is all about as she decided to gift Gina with a visit from her husband, and then she insisted on giving her visit away – to Michael, so he could spent it with his wife and baby. It was a heartwarming moment on the ranch, and even more so to watch Gina and Michael with their loved ones.
The last chance workout was extremely stressful this week between Bob and Alex, who was throwing a hissy fit over nothing. At this point, I was wishing I could smack Alex through the screen – she did eat over 1,000 calories at the temptation, but perhaps she forgot that part? Meanwhile, Dolvett was having no part of Gina’s usual whining – guess she thought she could pull that crap on a new trainer? She was wrong! After a tense workout, this is how the contestants fared:
Jeff from 323 to 312 (-11)
Michael from 363 to 353 (-10)
Alex from 204 to 198 (-8) with a 2 pound advantage
Gina from 193 to 184 (-9)
Jackson from 279 to 266 (-13)
Francelina from 217 to 213 (-6) with a 2 pound advantage
Joe from 291 to 279 (-12)
Danni from 207 to 201 (-6)
That meant that both Michael and Francelina fell below the yellow line tonight, which came as a huge sigh of relief for Danni, who was certain she would be going home. The real question at this point was – would everyone send home the girl who stuffed her face at the tempation, or the biggest guy still in the house, who definitely needed to remain there? Nope! Ugh, this is the part of the season that ticks me off…Let the games begin. With the help of two of his former teammates (Jeff and Gina), Michael was blindsided and voted off tonight. I’m fairly certain that the contestants are going to get blasted by the trainers for this one.
Now, Michael is home with a new lease on life, and has lost over 120 pounds to date! He is continuing his healthy journey at home, and hopes to win the at home prize. Be sure to come back tomorrow for our interview with Michael!
