The Biggest Loser’s Michael Dorsey Talks About Being Betrayed By His Team

February 12, 2013 04:37 PM by Lisa Princ

Last week on The Biggest Loser, Bob Harper’s blue team’s winning streak finally came to end, and last night when the teams went to singles, another one of Bob Harper’s contestants was sent packing. Despite being betrayed by a few of his former teammates, Michael Dorsey has no regrets!

Last night on The Biggest Loser, fans watched as Michael Dorsey (the biggest man in the house) was sent home, despite his desperate need to remain on the ranch. Michael was not only sent home, but betrayed by a few of his former teammates, who promised to have his back. Speaking with reporters today, Michael says he has no regrets, and has even forgiven Jeff. Check out Michael’s interview from earlier today below.

How Michael’s expectations differed from the reality of being on the ranch:
It was everything I thought it would be…multiplied by a million. I really thought that we would be eased into the first workout. I knew the first workout was going to be hard, but I had no idea that we were going to be thrown into it like that. I mean, there was no stretching, no warming up – instead they went full guns blazing. Also there were other aspects of it – like the fact that on the very first day we were told, ‘Look, if you want to eat, you’re going to have to cook it yourself’. So it was a learning curve that we had to overcome pretty quickly, but then as we went along we were given tools to do it more effectively.

Michael Dorsey’s feelings on being betrayed Jeff:
Obviously I’ve had some time to really reflect on this. Since that time, Jeff and I have talked and we’re actually in a great place right now. He had his reasons for what he did, and regardless of how it went down, the fact is that even without his vote for me I was still going to go home. I mean, to be honest with you, Gina made a comment early on in the episode – she said that we were stupid for not voting her out because she is a big threat, and I guess some would argue that they would have been stupid for not voting me out because I was a big threat. That’s how I see it, although that’s not my game. I went in with my mind made up that I wasn’t going to do it that way. I wanted to make sure that by the time all was said and done, I could look back and say that I kept my integrity intact…and I believe that I did.

On Danni sacrificing her family visit so that he could see his wife and baby:
It was awesome. I’m going to tell you something – there was not a dry eye in the house at that moment. It was just an awesome moment. For so long I would put my needs after everyone else’s, and Danni knew that I needed to see my wife. She just knew that. And the fact that she was willing to make that sacrifice for me spoke volumes of her character, and also spoke volumes of the fact that there’s someone else who gets it and who sees it, because I would have done the same thing if I had the opportunity. I told her that she’s not going to be able to get me to stop saying thank you, because that was just awesome that she did that for me.

The most important thing that Michael learned at the ranch:
I would have to say my head space – it’s about the head space. I’ve tried to lose weight many different times. I grew up in a rather athletic situation but my head space was not where it is now. It’s getting that head space together, realizing that there are decisions that I make that not only affect me, but they also affect others. And also making up in my mind that I really want this for myself. You know, I was really sick, because I was living my life for so many years and basically committing suicide. I knew what I was supposed to do, but I wasn’t willing to do it. It was something I could fix. And I realized that my head space wasn’t right. The turning point for me was when Dr H. asked me, ‘If you have cancer, are you going to avoid getting chemotherapy?’ And I was like: ‘No, I mean, that’s a given.’ And I realized at that moment: ‘Wow, this is what I’ve been doing all my life – I can fix this thing but I’m not willing to do it. Why?’ And I realized my head space wasn’t right.

What’s in Michael’s future:
I’m excited – I was a professional speaker before I started the show, so I’m actually looking forward to taking what I’ve learned from my journey. One of the projects I’m working on is that I am trying to ride rollercoasters all over the country, and I’m really excited about that because it’s something I haven’t been able to do for several years. I recognized that so many other people have that one thing that has just been blocking them from doing something and they can smell it, they can taste it, they can see it, but they can’t quite reach it – and this is mine. I’m excited about being able to share that with other people as well. This summer I’m going to be riding as many rollercoasters as I can, and having a good time with it.

Michael Dorsey also revealed that Danni gifting him with a visit from his wife and baby was a blessing as his wife got to see how he really needed to do things. Michael is also confident – and doing everything he can – to take home the at home prize at the finale! We can’t wait to see him there!
