Toni Braxton’s once successful music career has largely spiralled into a dearth of negative tabloid reports. Between current financial issues, family problems and the death of close friend Whitney Houston, Toni is not feeling a ton of motivation to return to the recording studio. That’s right, the Braxton Family Values diva has officially announced her retirement from the music industry. What’s next for Toni Braxton?
According to Toni Braxton, it’s a really bad idea for any musician to continue producing albums just for the sake of it. There needs to be plenty of passion involved in order to produce something worth listening to. And right now, it appears that Toni does not have the passion necessary to create a new album. The singer told theGrio, “For what I do I have to love it. I have to feel that excitement and it’s gone.”
That’s not to say that Toni’s done singing for good. She’s simply done with creating new music. That won’t stop the singer from performing old hits for her most dedicated fans. “I’m just not going to do any albums anymore; maybe touring occasionally here and there because I love performing, but not as much as I did in the past. But no new projects.”
In addition to the occasional concert performance, Toni plans to keep herself busy by further pursuing a career on the silver screen. She’s already appeared in the recent Lifetime feature Twist of Faith and feels that she’s capable of playing a wide variety of roles. Top on Toni’s movie bucket list? “I would like to play a lesbian. I don’t know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing: just something completely different than people would expect from me. Not a lipstick lesbian, either.”
Well, that certainly would be…interesting…do you have any faith in Toni Braxton’s potential as an actress? Or should she stick to music? Leave a comment and let us know what you think!
