Ashley Judd is considering a bid for the United States Senate, but does the actress and Who Do You Think You Are guest even qualify for the job? Senator Rand Paul says no, and not for the reason you might expect!
Could Ashley Judd beat out Mitch McConnell for to become the next Senator of Kentucky? According to Senator Rand Paul, the celeb’s election bid will be doomed before it even begins. Paul is casting doubt on Judd’s residency status and whether she’s the best person to represent the state of Kentucky. ”I guess the biggest concern is she lives in Tennessee. I think that’s a problem. She was a delegate for the president in Tennessee. She lives half the year in Scotland. It doesn’t seem like she has a lot of deep Kentucky roots here.”
When asked for his opinion about recently-aired attack ads featuring Judd, Paul echoed American Crossroads’ stance that such advertisements should be expected. “Part of politics is making sure people know about who you are running against. Ashley Judd’s a famous actress, she’s an attractive woman, and presents herself well, and from what I understand, is articulate. But the thing is, she doesn’t really represent Kentucky.”
Although he frequently disagrees with fellow Senator Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul is still supporting his quest for re-election. This support stems has less to do with approval of McConnell and more to do with, as Paul sees it, lack of a better candidate.
Do you agree with Rand Paul’s assertion that Ashley Judd lacks the “Kentucky roots” needed for a Senate bid? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!
