When Maksim Chmerkovskiy announced that he was leaving Dancing with the Stars in order to pursue other opportunities, it sounded like he wasn’t planning on returning. But now, that has all been called into question, for Maks claims that he is still under contract…and could very well return to the show for season 17!
He may cause more drama than any other pro dancer on DWTS, but we still love Maks Chmerkovskiy. As such, we were pretty disappointed to hear about his departure. But after making it look like he had no plans to return to the show, Maks is again planting a seed of doubt. He told Access Hollywood earlier today that he is still under contract with the series and just might make a return at some point. “When time comes for the next season, we’ll talk about it then.”
So, what is Maks up to right now? Some have speculated that he’s simply sitting back and relaxing, but the dancer says that this is absolutely not true. “As far as the rumors out there, I haven’t been unemployed since I was 14 years old, so it’s still not the case… ABC is still a big, big, big part of my life.” Maks’ plans during his break from DWTS include acting, producing and keep up with all his sponsorships. We’re sure he’ll still be a busy guy, mostly because he just doesn’t know how to live without a jam-packed schedule!
Fortunately, fans will not have to be completely without Chmerkovskiy charm this season. Val is still on the cast for the foreseeable future, and while he’s no Maks, he’s still an excellent dancer!
