We’re sure that the phrase “Rihanna’s restraining order” is going to initially make a lot of people happy. That is, it’ll make people happy until they learn that the restraining order has absolutely nothing to do with controversial boyfriend Chris Brown. Instead, the X Factor guest star has obtained a restraining order in response to some pretty scary behavior on the part of a longtime stalker.
Stalkers are an unfortunate reality when you’re a celebrity, but Rihanna seems particularly talented at attracting creeps. This time, the alleged offender is a man named Steveland Barrow. The suspect was accused of breaking into the home of Rihanna’s neighbor, which he initially believed belonged to the singer herself. In addition to the break-in, Barrow also stole property from the house and slept in one of its beds.
Perhaps the most disturbing thing about this case is the fact that Steveland Barrow has been released and is already nowhere to be found. Let’s just hope he’s not planning on harrassing Rihanna any more. She already has enough on her plate, what with the heavy criticism received as a result of her reconciliation with Chris Brown. Interestingly enough, Brown was the last person for which Rihanna filed a restraining order. This took place in 2009, shortly after Brown beat Rihanna up and caused an outcry from the press. Rihanna later lowered the severity of the restraining order, simply requesting that Brown not harrass her in any manner. Since then, the two have gotten back together. So, instead of dealing with his restraining order at the time of the recent break-in, Chris Brown was getting cozy with Rihanna and celebrating the diva’s 25th birthday. We’re assuming the same will not eventually happen with the target of Rihanna’s current restraining order, but who knows?
