Tori Spelling Shoots Down Divorce Rumors

March 03, 2013 01:00 PM by Donna W. Martin

Tori Spelling, 39, of Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood has been in the celebrity spotlight all of her life so she’s used to rumors and lies being spread about her and typically doesn’t even dignify them with a response. But earlier this week, she felt the need to speak out, not as a celebrity, but as a mom, when a vicious divorce rumor upset her 5-year-old son, Liam. Keep reading for more details.

According to People, the incident happened when she and her children were in the checkout line at the grocery store. While they were waiting to pay for their items, 5-year-old Liam saw the cover of a tabloid that said Tori and husband, Dean McDermott were getting a divorce.

Imagine the horror he must have felt. As a young and impressionable child, Liam’s first response was to believe what he read on the cover of the tabloid. And it took a lot of convincing on Tori’s part to make things okay with him. Once they got in the car to go home, Liam “was anxiously biting his lower lip and his big blue eyes were filled with tears. My heart sank,” Tori wrote in an open letter on Thursday, “I’ve always had shots taken at me, but my children are another story…keep them out of it!”

All the way home she reassured Liam that things were fine between mommy and daddy telling him they were very happy and in love, and that they were not getting a divorce.

Tori said Dean is a great husband and the best father to their four children, Liam, 5, Stella, 4, Hattie, 16-months, and Finn, 7-months. “I’m so blessed to have him as my partner in life and love,” she said.

What do you think of the rumors about Tori and Dean getting a divorce? And what about poor Liam reading the rumors on the cover of a supermarket tabloid? Sound off in the comments section and let us know.

Give me a break—a 5 year old kid can read supermarket tabloids?? what a bunch of bull. However I am hoping Spelling’s marriage does go into the dumpster–especially the way she treated her first husband (Shanian)–Her late father spent nearly $1 million for that fiasco–it didn’t even last a year-because Tori baby ultimate found her “true soulmate”—an already married man no less—don’t worry “honey” what goes around comes around!!!!

Yes, Dean was a married man when he met Tori but that isn’t the fault of their four children. I don’t wish them any ill will, only happiness and much success in raising their kids to be good people.

I don’t buy the idea that a 5 year old boy read an article in the check out line in a supermarket. He is 5!!!! I also don’t believe Tori does her own shopping. She hasn’t been able to raise a newborn without a nanny. I work with children around the age as “poor little Liam”, and reading and comprehending divorce is unlikely at best. If you want to feel bad for “poor little Liam”, or his siblings, feel bad that he has a train wreck for a mother. And parents that air their much too private sex life on national tv. Do they not think that their “poor little” children will eventually see their disgusting antics when they are older. And, BTW, why didn’t super mom go to the “tabloid free” check out line???? Food for thought.

My 5 year old can read headlines in the grocery store. If my picture was on the front of one he would especially want to know what it said. I don’t know what kind of school you all send your kids to but they should know how to read.

My sister and I were both able to read at the age of 3. I would hope that by the age of 5, which is old enough to be in kindergarten, that a kid would be able to read. Also, what store have you ever been in that has a “tabloid free”aisle? They’re stuffed into every aisle in every grocery store I’ve ever been in.
