Tuesday night’s episode of American Idol kicked off the semi-finals with the top ten girls duking it out for a spot in the top five. But one semi-finalist, Angela Miller stood out above the rest. Her performance caught the attention of a former Idol contestant, Colton Dixon when she belted out his original song, ‘Never Gone.’ And he couldn’t help but sound off about it on Twitter. Keep reading to see what Colton had to say about Angela’s rendition of his song.
According to USA Today, Colton, who finished seventh in last season’s Idol, had nothing but good things to say about Angela’s performance. He said she was a really good singer and he was impressed and thrilled that she chose one of his songs. And he even went so far as to say she outperformed everyone else. “Unbiased – I really thought she killed it,” he said, “She did her own thing with it [giving] the first chorus a little R&B flavor…which I really enjoyed.”
But Colton wasn’t the only one who enjoyed Angela’s performance. The judges loved it and Colton’s fans did too. Even though they are accustomed to hearing his original version of the song as a rock power ballad, they cheered for Angela saying they loved her rendition of the song as well.
Angela has been a judge favorite and a frontrunner among the girls all through the competition and she doesn’t show signs of slowing down. Do you think she has the goods to take it all the way and win the whole thing?
What did you think of Angela’s rendition of ‘Never Gone?’ Do you agree with Colton that she killed it? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it so sound off in the comments section and let us know.
