Piers Morgan has made his position on gun control quite clear, but his coverage of drone attacks has been somewhat more limited. But following a 13-hour filibuster initiated by Senator Rand Paul, the former America’s Got Talent judge decided to voice his opinion via Twitter.
Where does Piers Morgan stand on drone attacks? The CNN host typically aligns with President Obama on most issues, so one might assume that the same is true for drone warfare. Think again. Although he didn’t explicitly state a position on the issue, Piers did praise Senator Rand Paul for speaking out against drones during a recent 13-hour filibuster. The purpose behind this filibuster was to block John Brennan’s nomination to the CIA. While he ultimately had to quit and leave the floor to a vote, Rand Paul did earn positive feedback from all sides, not just Piers’ Twitter.
So, what did Piers have to say about Rand Paul? His tweet read, “The great Drone drone continues – and I salute #RandPaul for his political courage.” Included in the post was a picture of Rand Paul on the floor, along with a caption reading “No president has the right to say that he is judge, jury and executioner.”
Of course, had Rand Paul been on the floor speaking out against gun control, Pier Morgan’s reaction might have been a bit different. The host has taken quite a bit of heat these last few months for advocating stricter gun laws, including universal background checks.
Do you agree with Piers that Rand Paul’s filibuster stood out as an act of bravery? And do you agree with Senator Paul’s stance on drone attacks? Feel free to voice your opinion in the comments section below!
