Thursday night’s episode of Project Runway ended in the double elimination of team members Kate and Tu when the judges found their duck tape prom dress design too old-fashioned. Keep reading to see what Kate had to say about her elimination.
According to Lifetime, Kate knew right away that she wanted to create a long dress for the challenge even though Tu’s design called for a shorter and flirtier dress. She felt as if she knew what young girls wanted because her prom wasn’t so long ago and since Tu had never been to a prom, he simply went along with her idea.
But the judges didn’t like it and when they shot down her design for being too old-fashioned, Kate said she was sad and wasn’t ready to go home. But more than that, she was glad Tu wasn’t sent home for a design she ultimately felt responsible for referring to the parts of the dress the judges didn’t like, namely the length and silhouette.
Regardless of what the judges had to say, Kate was proud of the dress she and Tu created. She said it was beautiful and was one of the most realistic looking prom dresses on the runway.
And while she wasn’t expecting either of them to go home, a double elimination never crossed her mind. “If I could just go home and let him stay, I would,” she said.
Overall Kate felt really sad because she had a lot more to show the judges. “I really wish I could stay,” she said. “But if I have to go home, I’m glad it was on something I was proud of.”
