It seems as though Elisabeth Hasselbeck couldn’t outwit, outplay, and outlast her co-hosts on The View. After almost 10 years on the ABC daytime talk show, rumor has it that the Survivor alum is leaving. Was the resident right-winger fired because of her conservative ideals?
Not long after Joy Behar announced that she won’t be returning to The View next season, word has leaked that Elisabeth Hasselbeck will also be giving up her seat at the table, though the network has not yet confirmed the news.
Sources claim that the reason for Hasselbeck’s exit was the co-host’s “extreme right-wing” opinions, which, according to market research, turned viewers away from the show.
It’s being reported that Elisabeth was informed that her contract wouldn’t be renewed on Thursday (March 7), but a rep for the show says otherwise.
“Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long term contract,” the rep tells UsWeekly.
During her time on the show, Hasselback engaged in many heated arguments with her liberal leaning co-hosts — and a few guests. Her most infamous being the exchange with former moderator, Rosie O’Donnell, which resulted in the comedian’s own departure.
Whether she was fired or not, we’re sure this won’t be the last television gig for Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Perhaps a job at Fox News is in her near future? The outspoken star has served as a guest commentator on the network several times over the years.
