Last week was absolutely disastrous for teen heartthrob and X Factor mentor Justin Bieber. The celeb showed up late for one concert, passed out during another and got in a scuffle with the paparazzi! Did any of these incidents lead to J Biebs cancelling this week’s Portugal appearance?
Unfortunately for the Beliebers in Portugal, Justin Bieber will not be performing at a March 12th concert as initially planned. Following the announcement of this last minute cancellation, annoyed fans quickly began to gossip about the Biebs’ reason for not showing up. Some have assumed that the singer still isn’t feeling too hot after passing out at one of last week’s concerts, while others think he’s lying low after a paparazzi attack on Friday.
Ultimately, we don’t think health or paparazzi consequences have much to do with Justin Bieber’s canceled concert. After all, according to a statement from the singer’s rep, he’ll still be performing in Portugal tonight! After explaining that he was bailing on March 12th due to “unforeseen circumstances,” the rep added, “The Canadian singer is eager to play for the Portuguese fans on 11 March.”
So, what exactly are these unforeseen circumstances? Insiders tell TMZ that the concert cancellation was strictly a business decision. Apparently, tickets just weren’t selling for the Tuesday night performance. To cancel a concert as a result of poor ticket sales is not completely unheard of, but it is a bit unusual for a star as popular as Justin Bieber. After all, sources claim that the celeb had managed to sell enough tickets to fill the venue of choice to over 60 percent capacity. But maybe a poor showing is to be avoided in light of all the other issues the Biebs has been dealing with as of late.
