Yes, our fave a cappella singing competition is coming back! After a two-year hiatus, NBC now confirms that The Sing-Off will return for its fourth season. But when can we expect the show to premiere, and who will be sitting at the judges’ table? All the details after the jump.
It’s been a LONG time coming, but The Sing-Off is finally returning to NBC’s prime time line-up.
According to Entertainment Weekly, producers for the show have confirmed that casting is currently taking place throughout the country.
“The show is back!” a producer tells the magazine.
When the show will be back and who will be returning to the cast is not yet clear.
Seasons 1-3 of the singing competition aired during the holiday season, so it’s highly likely that Season 4 will air around the same time. The show’s official website only tells us that it will be “Returning Soon.”
As for who will be returning, no word has been released about the host or judges for Season 4. Previously, Nick Lachey hosted all three seasons, with Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Sara Bareilles serving as judges. Season 3 was Bareilles’ first season at the judges’ table, taking the place of Pussycat Doll and former X Factor judge, Nicole Scherzinger.
After two years off of the small screen, it’s likely that the show had a little help from Hollywood in its return, with the wild success of the film Pitch Perfect and the resurgence of a cappella groups.
The Season 3 winners, Pentatonix, have also done well for themselves since their win, touring across the country.
Whatever the reasons, we can’t wait for the show to come back, and are super excited to see the talent that Season 4 will bring!
