Former American Idol guest star Alicia Keys is on the move! And we’re not talking charts, although her Girl on Fire single has certainly done well. The singer is moving out of her New York City penthouse and instead of forcing movers up and down the stairs, she’s rented out a massive crane!
Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beats recently sold their SoHo condo. This is the same condo that attracted a fair amount of attention when Alicia purchased it from Lenny Kravitz in 2010. It’s definitely a swank place, with a great view of the Big Apple and 6,000 square feet in which to spread out. But the couple has decided to move to New Jersey. Their new house is also impressive, having once been owned by Eddie Murphy. And there’s a lot more space available at the new place which is situated on a beautiful five acre property. The house is full of amenities that were not available at the NYC penthouse, including an indoor pool, bowling alley and a private recording studio. Alicia and Swizz will certainly be living in style when they become residents of New Jersey!
Of course, when you have a 6,000 square foot condo filled with all kinds of valuables, the prospect of moving out can be a bit complicated. Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats decided to skip out on the usual moving crew and instead hired a crane to remove items from the penthouse. A crane typically costs upwards of $1,000 per day to rent, but in this case, it is likely a worthy investment. Not to mention, the crane is sure to cut down the time requirements of an otherwise drawn-out process by quite a bit. With problem-solving skills like this, Alicia Keys really is a girl on fire!
