Former Amercia’s Got Talent judge, David Hasselhoff has joined spent the weekend in Berlin, Germany where he joined in the protests to save a portion of the Berlin Wall from being taken down and destroyed. Keep reading to find out what’s going on and what Hasselhoff had to say about the situation.
According to the Inquisitr, a group of developers would like to tear down a section of the Berlin Wall known as the East Side Gallery so they can construct a number of luxury apartment buildings. However, not everyone shares their enthusiasm for tearing down the wall because this section in particular depicts artwork left by painters after the fall of communism in Germany.
In fact, many believe the wall to be sacred signifying freedom and perseverance, and the sacrifice of human life. “It’s like tearing down an Indian burial ground…It’s a no-brainer,” David Hasselhoff said.
At least 10,000 people, including Hasselhoff, turned out at a memorial gathering at the Berlin Wall on Sunday. In an effort to halt the destruction of the East Side Gallery section of the wall, a petition is circulating and to date, more than 62,000 people have signed in protest.
What do you think of Hasselhoff joining the fight to save this section of the Berlin Wall? Do you agree with him that the wall stands for freedom and that it should be left standing? And do you think the petition will be enough to stop the wall from being torn down, or do you think progress will win out in the end and this historic section of the wall will be replaced with apartment buildings? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it so sound off in the comments and let us know.
