On Thursday night’s episode of Project Runway, we saw tons of drama as the seven remaining designers tried to create spring looks for Lord & Taylor. But in the end, the designer who stayed quiet amid the drama storm was sent home. Keep reading to see what Samantha had to say about leaving the competition.
According to Lifetime, Samantha admitted she was sad to be leaving the competition so soon and didn’t feel like it was really her time to go yet. And looking back, her only regret was that she probably should have gone with her first design idea instead of changing it. But all in all, it was okay because there was nothing more she could do now but suck it up and move along.
And while she understood that her garment wasn’t executed as well as she would have like for it to have been, especially from the waist down, she still felt like her design aesthetic was stronger than many who are still in the competition.
In fact, she thought the judges should have looked at who had more potential going forward, which in her opinion would have resulted in Richard’s elimination from the competition because she believed her design showed innovation, detail, and excitement where Richard’s dress didn’t. And she took a risk where he played it safe. She was trying to be fashion forward and introduce a new customer to Lord & Taylor, while Richard showed the same silhouette he had produced in past challenges.
“I wanted to make it to the end so I could actually go to fashion week and show who I really am as a designer,” she said. “But I’m going to take top 7 and be happy with it.”
What did you think of Samantha’s design? And who would you have sent home, Samantha or Richard? Post a comment and let us know.
