Just in case you didn’t notice, Usher is no Cee Lo Green. And he knows it. But that doesn’t diminish the value of having him on The Voice. After making his big debut last night, the hit singer headed over to Jimmy Fallon’s show to explain just how his presence will impact the reality competition’s fourth season.
Usher made a great impression during last night’s debut on The Voice, but those who couldn’t get enough of the singer were lucky enough to see him again on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. After showing off an impressive set of ‘spirit animal’ rings, Usher explained that viewers on The Voice might not get his sense of humor. “My humor doesn’t always connect…I’m, like, the black Larry David. I’m kinda misunderstood. I curb your enthusiasm.”
Of course, Jimmy Fallon wanted to know how Usher’s misunderstood sense of humor would be taken by his fellow judges on The Voice. Usher admitted that Shakira, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are all funny people…but a different kind of funny. “My humor is a little bit slower and might go over people’s heads.”
Regardless of his unusual sense of humor, Usher appears to be a hit among fans of The Voice! Following last night’s premiere, Twitter was buzzing with positive feedback surrounding both Usher and fellow new judge Shakira. So, even if the audience fails to understand his attempts at being funny, Usher’s singing ability and candor with the contestants should be enough to earn him a special spot in the hearts of dedicated viewers.
