The Voice returned this week with tons of talent, as well the addition of new mentors, Shakira and Usher. While we may have watched Blake Shelton poke fun at his new competitors, he really thinks that they are doing great on the show, even better than expected!
Shakira and Usher definitely fit in well on The Voice, and though we have seen Blake Shelton poke some fun at them during the first two shows, he definitely respects these two and feels they are doing a great job. Recently, Shelton appeared on Today, where he had nothing but praise for Shakira and Usher, saying: “I think they’re doing way better than Adam and I expected. I mean, the first couple of auditions, we were sitting there, like, ‘Oh, yeah. This is going to be easy.’ But you could tell they’d done their homework.”
Shelton went on to say that Shakira and Usher definitely knew how to play their cards when it came to getting their contestants, and he even admitted that they embarrassed him at some points. “We thought we had somebody won over just because we’d been there longer. That wasn’t the case,” Blake added.
And the addition of Shakira and Usher may have been just what the show needed, as the ratings were up from last season’s first two episodes. The Voice held close to ABC’s Dancing With The Stars this week, but they actually had more viewers in the key demographic group of 18-49. Definitely a win-win situation for NBC.
