According to the Los Angeles Times, Beyonce took to Instagram on Tuesday posting a simple handwritten note that said, “If you like it, you should be able to put a ring on it.” Like-minded people across the nation showed they were in agreement with Beyonce by liking the picture 220,000 times within a 24-hour period.
Earlier in the week, she also reposted a photo of the red and pink equal sign logo saying it’s about time and encouraging others to show their support.
But Beyonce isn’t the only celebrity who feels that gay and lesbians should be able to get married if they choose to. Her husband, Jay-Z also believes in marriage equality and nearly two years ago in May 2011 let his voice be heard by saying, “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love…That’s their business [and to say that they can’t is] discrimination, plain and simple.
Other stars showing their support include Madonna, Ben Affleck, Ricky Martin, Seth McFarlane, Lance Bass, and Alyssa Milano to name a few. Even the heads man himself, President Obama is calling people to action by tweeting a picture and asking them to reach up and close the gap in reference to marriage equality.
What do you think of Beyonce’s stance on gay marriage? Do you agree with her that there should be marriage equality? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it so sound off in the comments and let us know.
