Joan Rivers Slams Adele’s Weight– Again! Did She Go Too Far?

April 01, 2013 05:00 PM by Shayla Perry

If Joan Rivers really does know best, maybe she should keep some of her comments to herself. After offending Grammy-winning singer, Adele on late night television, NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice alum rehashed the fiery feud with an apology that just may be more offensive than her first dig!

Fans and critics alike are used to the brash comments that come out of comedian Joan Rivers’ mouth. Whether you think it’s funny or not, we’ve all pretty much accepted it as being what she does. But did the Fashion Police star go a little too far this time when she made fun of singer Adele’s weight?

Here’s how it started….

Back in February, Rivers made an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman and joked that the British singing sensation’s single “Rollin’ in the Deep” should have been called “Rollin’ in the Deep Fried Chicken” (groan). And if that wasn’t bad enough, Joan added a gesture with her arms, mocking Adele’s wide stature.

Understandably, the new mom took offense to the statement and demanded an apology.

Last week, the incident was rehashed when Rivers was interviewed by The Huffington Post. Joan mentioned that Adele wanted her to apologize after her late night gaff, then quipped, “I took an ad out on her ass. I said, ‘You are not fat,’ and then I had room for a lot of other ads.

“She should just calm down or lose weight,” Rivers added.

Do you think Joan Rivers went too far with her comments about Adele’s weight, or do you agree with the comedian? Sound off below.

I like Joan and love Adele. Joan isn’t being funny, just taking a cheap shot and being mean. Adele has many accomplishments, and does not rely on beauty alone. She is a beautiful multi-talented woman. She’s the “real deal”.

She did go to far, one joke might be ok, but another in the form of a sarcastic apology is plain nasty. At least Adele has real talent! what talent is there in talking shit?

No Joan didn’t go too far. It’s a joke! Joan shows no one any mercy.

Joan absolutely went too far. She has no business making such nasty uncalled for jokes and comments. I am (and have always been) a little on the pleasantly plump side. This in no way has changed the way I live my life or the friends I have. Adele, is a beautiful woman with a new baby, a loving boyfriend and more awards for her wonderful voice and song writing abilities because she is that good. YOU NEED TO APOLOGIZE! So back off Joan and stay on your Fashion Police Show and continue to back stab everyone. What you do now is not what I consider jokes but hateful bullying!!

I wish someone would pull all of Joans loose skin over her lip and sew it shut! Can’t stand the “Queen of Mean”

I do not know why people are latching on to this joke about Adele? Joan Rivers routinely says all sorts of outrageous remarks, and her comment about Adele was very tame in comparison. For example, she has said people need to keep their cats away from Koreans because they eat them, she has made all sorts of lewd jokes about black men’s sex organs, she has said all sorts of vulgar jokes about gay people, and so on.

But, she makes some silly joke about Adele being chubby, which is something Adele has never seemed to care about–and just because it is Adele this is supposed to be news? Sorry, where was everyone when the far more crass and rude jokes were being made by Ms. Rivers? Oh yes, they didn’t care because those comments weren’t about their chubby celebrity singer.

Adele is a pretty, wealthy, and successful singer, who happens to be plump. She knows it and it doesn’t seem to bother her. She has more going on for her than most people ever will, and she certainly doesn’t need magazines or bloggers to defend her with all her wealth and celebrity from some minor joke by Joan Rivers.

Maybe, if there were a popular Korean-black gay singer, all the same drama queens who go on about about “poor Adele” would instead post about how Joan Rivers shouldn’t make fun of Koreans, blacks, or gays. But, since those comments weren’t necessarily directed at anyone famous, no one seems to care. In other words, the indignation is just hypocrisy–no one really cares that Joan Rivers said something mean, they just care it was said about some singer that is famous and they happen to like. Adele is a grown woman who can take care of herself, and I am sure some little joke by Joan Rivers is the last thing on her mind.

I think she went too far. Adele is a beautiful, talented woman. She just gave birth. How much she weighs should NOT even be discussed. Why do people even think such crap is funny. It is not.

At least Adele is a talented musician. Joan used to be semi-interesting, now she is just boring and trying to cover that up by being mean, and boring.

I think sometimes people just take what Joan says way to seriously. It’s comedy,it’s what she does.

Mrs. Perfect with how many surgeries, what right do you have to insult someone about her looks. Get an ‘f’n’ life. You will get yours if you already haven’t. Elsewise why would you be so cruel and judgemental.

Joan is so ugly and her voice is so bad how could anyone take anything she says seriously She is an old never been funny comic and she knows this about herself She can not stand the fact that she has always been a loser It is why she has had so many horrible face lifts Does she look in the mirror?? She looks awful and was never an attractive woman
She has no talent and anyone who listens to her is just dumping down

Adele looks better than Joan’s plastic surgery. What she do go to a blind plastic surgeon?

Joan used to be funny. How unfortunate she has stooped to this . So ok, just to state a few facts: Adeles butt looks better than Joans face. Adele has class, Joan has …………….? Adele gets recognition for her talent, she doesn’t have to keep publicly saying mean things to get attention.

Joan is a sad pathetic woman who has made her fortune just like the late night talk stars at the expense of so many people being made cruelly fun of. It is adult bullying. And as long as the American Public watches and supports the outrageous behavior it will go on. Will Melissa be comfortable inheriting this cruelly earned money. Sad Sad Sad
