Sorry Finchel fans; it looks like you’ll have to survive without your beloved Finn Hudson for this season’s final two episodes of Glee. Now that actor and Glee Project mentor Cory Monteith is in rehab, he won’t be able to join the rest of the cast for filming.
After a long period of sobriety, Glee star Cory Monteith has unfortunately experienced a relapse. The good news is, he has officially entered rehabilitation and is committed to attaining a full recovery. Cory’s entire Glee family has expressed support for this decision, with show creator and Glee Project executive producer Ryan Murphy tweeting, “I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100 [percent].”
20th Century Fox also support Cory’s decision to seek treatment, having expressed this support in a recently released statement: “Cory is a beloved member of the Glee family and we fully support his decision to seek treatment. Everyone at the show wishes him well and looks forward to his return.”
Of course, with Cory off at rehab, this leaves the Glee cast one member short for the filming of season four’s final two episodes. While this absence is unfortunate, it’s absolutely necessary for Cory’s immediate health and long-term acting potential. Although Glee has yet to explain exactly how the absence will be treated in the plot, we doubt that the writers will just leave a Finn-shaped hole in the show. Deadline.com reports that, while Finn will be out of the picture, everything will be explained as part of the storyline.
We hope that Cory’s time in rehab allows him to achieve a full recovery. We will miss seeing him on Glee and The Glee Project but look forward to his return!
