Dennis Rodman Fired from ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ But Should Someone Else Have Been Sent Home Instead?

April 08, 2013 01:20 PM by Shayla Perry

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman was fired on last night’s episode of Celebrity Apprentice. But with his teammate, Trace Adkins admitting that the group lost because of a mistake that he made, did Donald Trump make the right call in the boardroom?

Is it possible that Donald Trump made a mistake?

Last night on NBC‘s Celebrity Apprentice, Teams Power and Plan B were tasked with creating advertising campaigns for Trump’s wife, Melania’s skincare line. As usual, the competition was fierce, but the winner of the challenge was decided by one letter….

On the signage for their campaign, Team Power misspelled Trump’s name (it’s Melania, not Milania!), ruining their chance for a win. Though Plan B team member, Stephen Baldwin was able to quickly point out the error, no one on Team Power realized it; that is, until it was too late.

So who’s at fault?

According to Trace Adkins, the mistake was his, as he was a part of the design process, BUT as Project Manager, it was Rodman’s duty to proof all of the artwork and sign off on it…which he did — not noticing the misspelling at all.

When the two faced the Donald in the boardroom, Adkins called Rodman out, complaining that he didn’t really contribute to the task. And that spelling mistake? Well, he may have said that it was his error, but when it came down to it, Trace felt that it was something the entire team — including Dennis — should’ve noticed.

Mr. Trump seemed to agree, eventually turning to Dennis Rodman and firing him on the spot.

Did he make the right decision in firing Rodman, or should Trace Adkins have been sent home this week?

With Donny having so many ex wives, at least Dennis knew the right name, even though it was spelled wrong. Give him credit for that.

BOTTOM LINE = THE MANAGER IS RESPONSIBLE. FIRING OF RODMAN WAS CORRECT.

I agree with Mr. Trumps’ decision. The project manager should be held accountable for the
overall project presentation. The misspelled name represents a lack of detail from the project manager.

That’s a tough one. It was really Trace’s screw up, but Trace is serviceable and valuable to his team, Dennis on the other hand, is useless in this competition.
My thought is that they could have fired the whole team. Although Trace and Little John could be a force.

I was glad that he got fired. He was lazy and not proactive on that last task and he was the manager. Bad move being apathetic at the shopping trip with lil jon. Too bad they split up Lisa and Marilou for next week, but I saw it coming. Good luck to Trace he might just win this one. I predict it will come down to Marilou and Trace. Just one opinion.

No one else on that team should have been sent home. Penn on the other team may have been in real jeapordy had they lost because of his rudeness to both wife and son of THE DONALD. One thing is true for sure, a lady of any station in life usually scoffs at haveing her name mispelled.

Wow, so many spelling mistakes in the above comments… kind of humorous given the nature of this week’s firing. Dennis Rodman is just about totally useless in most all the tasks and has no real talents to add to the tasks. This week as a manager he was totally not there and had little contributions. He went shopping for props and did little there. What manager sends themselves shopping leaving the ‘war room’ to others where the real work is done. Other than his apparent rehab of himself…no real contributions. Trace should be there at the end with Lil John.

As Joan Rivers might say, “Oh, grow up.” The star firings are all fixed by the show producers based upon who will provide higher ratings. It doesn’t suprise me that the celebrities can’t pick-up on a simple spelling error. Let me give you an example. Brandi should have been fired after the first task. Forget the money that she raised. She put Amoroso in charge of the money, at least $80K was missing, and allowed Amoroso to make her look like a fool in the boardroom, and then lacked the courage to bring her back for a well-deserved firing. Almost all of the celebrities seem to be too important. They do not pay attention to detail, want to show off for the cameras, and get done quickly with the shooting to have some real fun.
