So far, 2013 hasn’t proven to be the best year for Taylor Swift, what with all the negative attention related to Harry Styles, plus a failure to capture a win at the ACM Awards 2013. But the former Punk’d star is doing her best to remain positive.
Explaining the world of dating and relationships can’t be particularly easy when you’re Taylor Swift. After all, look how much flak the singer has gotten for dating guy after guy (and, of course, writing song after song about all these unfortunate men). Now, Taylor appears to have condesned her complicated dating life into a very, uh, interesting analogy.
“Relationships are like traffic lights,” Taylor tells Wonderland Magazine. “And I just have this theory that I can only exist in a relationship if it’s a green light.” It doesn’t seem like the celeb has always stuck by this little theory though, seeing the number of relationships she pursued in which there appeared to be definite red lights. But she’s convinced that her experience has given her some level of wisdom on the dating front and that she’ll only go for green lights in the future.
Taylor adds that her feelings are very complex after breakups — something she tries to capture in the lyrics to her hit songs. “You’re never feeling just sad. Maybe you wake up and you feel sad, and then you get angry, and then you feel like ‘I’m fine’, and then you feel confident, and then you feel a sense of doubt, and then you’re insecure, and then there’s jealousy, and then you’re back to sad – and then you feel fine again.”
Now we have to wonder — will the green light metaphor make it into Taylor’s next album? We’ll just have to wait and see!
