The Voice Recap: Blake Shelton Makes A Big Mistake

April 09, 2013 06:07 PM by Lisa Princ

The blind auditions on The Voice came to an end tonight as each mentor had only one remaining spot left. With the battle for the best getting more intense than ever, how did Blake Shelton manage to make a huge mistake?

The final blind auditions took place tonight on The Voice, and with only one spot left on each team, the mentor battles were on, or so we thought.

The first artist to impress the mentors tonight was New Jersey native, Jacquii Sandell. Jacquii took on Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams, and it seemed a bit mediocre for our liking, but she managed to get both Blake and Usher to turn. Jacquii decided to join team Blake, and we were left wondering if Blake just made a huge mistake.

But, a mistake for Blake is a blessing for Adam Levine, right? Blake definitely felt horrible when 19-year-old Amber Carrington came out rocking Good Girl. Now, you know how hard it is to pull off a Carrie Underwood tune, right? Well, this girl nailed it! Luckily for Adam Levine, he was the only mentor to turn his chair, and was more than thrilled to rub Blake’s nose in his big score. Adam’s team was then complete as well.

And then the newbie battle began! Although, according to Shakira, it only took about 20 minutes with the guys to stop feeling like a newbie.

Dustin Hatzenbuhler, a nerdy looking character was up next, and his parents were anxious to get him out of the house, hoping this would be his big break. Dustin’s rendition of Haven’t Met You Yet was a bit boring, and the mentors agreed. It was a no go, and of course, Adam blamed it on his full team – sneaky!

Up next was Luke Edgemon, with his version of I Can’t Make You Love Me, which seemed a bit bland at first, but once he hit the chorus, Luke really showcased his vocal talent. It paid off because Luke won both Usher and Shakira’s attention. And Shakira took over with her pleas to win him over, poor Usher barely got a word in! It worked for Shakira, because Luke chose her.

So, who would Usher land for the last artist on his team? Would it be Jessica Childress, the next artist to hit the stage? Giving her rendition of Marry You, Jessica proved she had some great vocal chops, even wowing Adam Levine! Could she win over Usher? Absolutely! Usher completed his team with Jessica, leaving Shakira a bit bummed that she couldn’t take her.

Best audition of the night hands down goes to Amber Carrington! Yes, Blake Shelton, you made a big mistake! Something tells us he will try to steal Amber from Adam.

Which artist impressed you the most during the blind auditions? Are you enjoying the new season of The Voice? What do you think of Shakira and Usher on the panel? Comment below to share your thoughts with us!

The Voice is one of my favorite shows. If you love Music you have to appreciate this show. I think Shakira and Usher are wonderful new judges.
All four judges are super. They all have that kind person thing about them and I think this will be one of the outstanding seasons for the Voice.

Blake, you have no idea what you missed with Amber Carrington. Arround these parts, she left us on our knees begging for more when LA snatched her away from us.
