Why Did Carrie Ann Inaba Burst Into Tears Last Night On Dancing With The Stars?

April 09, 2013 07:00 AM by Lisa Princ

Last night on Dancing With The Stars, the competition took an emotional turn as the theme for the contestants was the best year of their lives. One routine in particular moved Carrie Ann Inaba so much, that she couldn’t help but burst into tears. Who caused the DWTS judge to break down last night? You may not believe it!

No one ever expects a funny man to come off as emotional, but yet, that was definitely the case last night for comedian Andy Dick. Andy Dick dedicated his Viennese Waltz to his teenage daughter Meg last night, telling the audience: “This has been the best year, because of sobriety. My daughter Meg is the apple of my eye. We have a super special relationship. She’s like a mini version of me. My troubles become their troubles. I’ve put them through hell.”

The routine, along with his story, was enough to bring judge Carrie Ann Inaba to tears on the panel. “It was so beautiful, like the simplest poem. What you said with those few moments was so beautiful,” Inaba said as she tried to fight back the tears, but the tears won. Inaba also made sure to give Dick a hug for his heartfelt performance. There is just something incredible about a father’s love for his children, and having recently lost her father, we’re sure this performance struck very close to Inaba’s heart.

Even Andy Dick fought back the tears as well, as he described his special year to the judges and audience. For his performance, Andy earned a 21 from the judges. It was not the best score of the night, but it was definitely not the worst either.

What did you think of Andy Dick’s emotional performance last night on Dancing With The Stars? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it!

Week four and already there are three front runners – all female. It’s going to be a toss up between Aly Raisman, Zendaya and Kellie Pickle. Zendaya and Aly show a maturity far beyond their ages and since they are accustomed to performing before an audience, don’t have that fear. Carrie ann needs to be less emotional – she is moved to tears far too often….also we’re tired hearing her complaints about all the ‘lifts’. It was a good show and I have a feeling that Ms. Vanderpunp will go tonight. At any rate, I think the schedule is just too much for her; but she gave it her all and I admire her for making the effort last night. So far, DWTS has not disappointed me this season!

To answer the question why did Carrie Ann Inaba burst into tears last night on dancing with the stars? Well, in the first place she is just too emotional, also I understand that her father died not so long ago and maybe she was thinking about that when Andy Dick was dancing and dedicating his dance to her daughter. But Carrie Ann needs to keep her emotions more under control….she is moved to tears far too often!!

Carrie lost her father a few weeks ago. I’m not surprised that she burst into tears at a father’s dance for his daughter. It’s normal.

Good Lord, is it a crime to show your emotions? I had no idea that Carrie Ann had recently lost her father, this totally explains the tears. Even without that backstory, there is no shame in showing feelings.

I thought Andy Dick was wonderful last night. The fact that he has fought through the darkest part of the tunnel and came out the light end is marvelous and he should be commended. When is it a crime to be emotional? Carrie Ann just lost her father and I’m sure it touched her personally. I lost my father 2 1/2 years ago and there are many things that bring me to tears. Wonderful job Andy, keep up the good work!

She was thinking of her father that she lost right before the show aired. I was in tears with her.

I thought it was a great evening! I have never been a fan of Andy Dick but I have seen a much softer and mature side to him on this show. I was also moved to tears because to see someone love their child so much is beautiful. Also, Kelli Pickler is absolutely PHENOMENAL!!! Every week she gets better and better. Last night was so emotional; you could truly feel the love these two have for each other. I am rooting for this darling girl to take it all the way!!!!

What the hell is all the criticism of Carrie’s emotions? It was very touching and frankly, I’ve never known of heartfelt emotion hurting anyone. Give the girl a break!! As for Andy Dick, I never liked him because his non sober self was mean and obnoxious. The real person is receiving a TON of love and respect from me because his sobriety is so much more of an accomplishment than winning a disco ball. I cried too because his love for his kids was sincere and VERY touching. He has a new fan in me and I truly hope he stays on his path. He should be VERY proud. Maybe not the best dancer on the planet but he’s being real. More of us should follow suit.

I believe Andy was scored too high. Should have been 5′s.

Carrie Ann finds SOMETHING to blubber about every season. She just found it earlier this time. Thank goodness. Now it’s out of the way.
