American Idol Results Recap: Has The Dead Weight Been Dropped From The Top Six?

April 11, 2013 06:01 PM by Lisa Princ

Last night on American Idol, the top six had two chances to impress us, and while some of them blew us away, others were just plain awful. Now, the votes have been tallied, but did America chose to get rid of the dead weight Lazaro Arbos?

American Idol kicked off the top six results show with…wait for it….

A medley of Bacharach hits by the top six. Shocking, I know. It was touching, but I was left wondering if anyone else could barely understand what Lazaro was singing? Don’t get me wrong, I love his inspirational story, but he needs to go. He has spent the season inspiring others, which is wonderful, but this is a singing competition – and dude just does not have the chops that these girls have. My favorite in the medley? Candice!

Cue to boring Ford music video…guess they have fill the hour somehow, right? Oh yay, we get to see Kelly Clarkson and Scotty McCreery tonight!

Jimmy Iovine’s back for his opinion – He thinks that Kree needs to show more emotion, while Angie did not do enough to win. He hit the nail on the head though with Lazaro – a snoozefest last night. Dear Idol Gods, please  stop with the replays from the night before – especially the judges. If I hear one more “honey child” from Nicki Minaj, I am going to be sick.

Ryan Seacrest decides that tonight he is doing results in pairs – fun! He takes last week’s top three – Kree Harrison, Angie Miller, and Lazaro Arbos, and puts them all on the stage in separate spots. Gee thanks Ryan, we now have to wait through a commercial break to know anything else.

Break’s over. Kevin Bacon emerges from the audience – someone get him a hairbrush please. Yippee, Scotty McCreery is back on the American Idol stage. Scotty performed his new tune, See You Tonight, and I must admit, it’s kind of catchy.

Finally, 30 minutes into the results, we are actually getting results. Janelle Artur is paired with Angie Miller. Candice Glover is paired with Kree Harrison. Amber Holcomb is paired with Lazaro Arbos. Uh oh, which pair is the actual bottom two? Surprise, surprise we have to wait through yet another break, and another performance. Arg.

Kelly Clarkson is back on the Idol stage with her latest single, People Like Us. As usual, Kelly is rocking it – another catchy tune. Cute, Mariah Carey wants to hug her.

Dim the lights, results are back. Kree and Candice are the top 2! Well deserved and not surprising in the least. Angie and Janelle are also safe, while Lazaro and Amber are the bottom 2 – partially surprised about this one. Which one is singing for their life tonight?

Lazaro Arbos! Lazaro sings for his life, but at this point, will they actually save him? Randy Jackson reveals that no, the judges will not save Lazaro Arbos. He’s going home tonight.

Keep inspiring others Lazaro, best of luck to you!

Idol needs to find better female judges as it isn’t improving a thing..

YES! Its time for voters to vote talent not pity. Candice has always been my fav along with Kree. The rest are good but not as good as Candice and Kree.

What pity??? I voted for Lazarro and Janelle, and I must say it was not out of pity!!! I’m tired of hearing this. And Lazarro was far from ‘dead weight’….perhaps the writer of this article should glance in the mirror. He was bashed over and over and over, and to be honest, I question just how many of us have as much strength of character to endure the brutality. He’s a gifted singer, talented, intelligent, classy….so much more than the actions of some of the other so-called ‘professionals’ I have viewed on Idol this season. The show needs more competent judges…Randy is blatantly cruel. Nikki craves attention and typically loud, simply making such aggravating noise….that’s all, it’s the noise like nails on a chalkboard. The show needs new judges. I will watch to see how Janelle makes out though I doubt she’ll win because the judges have already made that determination during their little gatherings, you know….when no one is watching… After this season, if not for new judges, I will no longer be watching the show as it needs a fresh appeal, and I don’t mean from the vocalists either. They also need someone to replace, on, what’s his name with the ballcap? You know, the know-it-all. Right.

Lazarro should not have even been in the top 10. It was a wasted slot that could have been filled with a talent instead of a story. As far as judges, Idol needs judges that speak the truth and a little controvery is always good. I love Jimmy’s comments in the beginning to the contestants and I love his comments after. He’s the only one really keeping it real. Thanks Jimmy. It’s a rough business and honesty will help the contestants and help with honest voting.
