American Idol Recap: Not So Surprising Top Five Results

April 18, 2013 06:08 PM by Lisa Princ

Last night on American Idol, the top five girls took the stage with tunes from their birth years, as well as diva songs. Tonight, one of these ladies was sent packing – was it your favorite?

American Idol‘s top five kicked off the results show with a medley of Donna Summer tunes. Clay Aiken and Fantasia will be performing later – will likely be the highlight of the night. Anything but replays of the judges last night, please!

After the boring Ford music video (will they ever stop with these dumb things), it was time for some super dragged out results. Cue the replay of Angie Miller’s performance from last night. Jimmy Iovine thinks it was not good enough, but Nicki Minaj speaks up and says that Jimmy has no clue what he’s talking about. Uh oh, is there a cat fight about to happen?

Candice hits the stage for her replay, and Jimmy Iovine admits that he was blown away by Candice. Ryan Seacrest checked with Randy to see what Paula Abdul thought about the song, and as soon as Randy starts complaining that Paula would not return his calls, Paula shows up on stage and surprises Candice. Paula admits that she is a huge fan of Candice!

After a commercial break, Clay Aiken made his way back to the American Idol stage. Clay performed Bridge Over Troubled Water, a finale fan favorite. Odd, we were thinking we’d hear a new tune…oh well.

And then it was back to the results. Jimmy Iovine was not crazy about Janelle Artur’s performances last night, but Ryan Seacrest surprised Janelle with a supportive letter from Dolly Parton.

Amber Holcomb’s replay was up next, and Jimmy Iovine thinks that Amber should definitely make it another week. Completely agree! Kree Harrison, in Jimmy Iovine’s opinion, did not do enough to keep herself around another week. Fantasia then took the stage with her tune, Lose To Win. It was a great performance as always.

Back to what we actually care about – results. Candice Glover, Amber Holcomb, and Angie Miller are all safe! Thank goodness America was actually listening. So, who would be singing for their life tonight?

Janelle Arthur! Kree Harrison was sent to safety. Janelle decides to sing Keep Me Hanging On in hopes that the judges will save her. Boring.

The judges chose not to save Janelle, she would be heading home tonight. Did they make the right decision?

Do you agree with America? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it! Comment below to share your thoughts with us.

“Will they ever stop with those dumb (Ford music videos)”? That depends – will the viewers ever stop fast-forwarding through the commercials?

As for not using the save, it was surprising in that it is already public information that the final will be May 16, but since (supposedly) they can’t use the save now, if they eliminate one singer per week, the winner is announced on May 9.
