Former American Idol guest judge, Olivia Newton-John was scheduled to begin a residency in Las Vegas where she would perform at the Flamingo hotel. However, she is postponing those plans because her sister Rona has been diagnosed with brain cancer. Keep reading for more details.

This is a sad time for Olivia Newton-John, who has fought her own battle with cancer. Twenty years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy treatments to save her life. So she knows what it’s all about and what her sister faces in the coming months and she fights to survive the battle against brain cancer.

But she’s not going to be alone; Olivia and other family members will be by Rona’s side giving love and support. According to the Las Vegas Sun, as soon as Olivia received the news that Rona had been diagnosed with brain cancer, she decided to postpone her gig in Vegas so she could spend time with her sister and the rest of their family. “As a cancer ‘thriver’ myself,” Olivia said, “I am very aware of the importance of love, support, and family during this journey she is about to begin.”

While Olivia appreciates everyone’s concern and well wishes, she has made a point to thank everyone in advance for respecting the family’s privacy during this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rona, Olivia, and the rest of their family.

As far as Olivia’s residency in Las Vegas is concerned, it is believed she will resume her plans and keep her commitment at a later date after her sister’s health improves.
