Celebrity Apprentice Recap: The Mechanical Dog

April 28, 2013 08:58 PM by Veronica Dudo

This week the all-star cast of NBC’s hit reality TV series, Celebrity Apprentice go high tech! The remaining celebrities are tasked with creating demonstrational videos for the tech company: LG. Tensions are running high with only six celebs left in the game. One team works together while another experiences utter chaos. The Boardroom advisors are Ivanka Trump and the 2009 winner, Joan Rivers. Keep reading to find out who stays and who goes!

The all-stars are all vying to win money for their charities. The six remaining celebrities include Marilu Henner, Lisa Rinna, Gary Busey, Penn Jillette, Trace Adkins and Lil Jon.

Both teams must record demonstrational videos for LG showing everything the LG Smart Home and Home Entertainment system can do. Team Power’s Project Manager is Lil Jon who leads fellow teammates Marilu Henner and Trace Adkins. Their take on the task is to have Marilu portray a “mom” whose son comes home from college to visit and she tells him all about her LG products throughout the house that can do a number of helpful things. They want to send the message that anyone in the family can use LG projects with the tagline “Life’s Good.”

Over on Team Plan B, Gary Busey decides to be the Project Manager leading Lisa Rinna and Penn Jillette. Harmony is far from what’s happening for these three teammates. Lisa and Penn grow frustrated with Gary’s style of working especially when they only have a half-hour to shoot the video for their piece. In the end, they decide to show a family. Gary portrays the “dad” who isn’t up to date on trends in the tech world. His “son” gives him a LG phone and Gary jokingly asks, what will they come up with nest? A mechanical dog!

Things get heated in the boardroom when Donald Trump talks to both teams about their work. Gary Busey reveals, ‘I felt abandoned’ on this task. Penn and Lisa refute Gary’s claim and say that they tried to do their best under the leadership of Gary. Donald Trump announces that the LG executives liked Lil Jon’s video better so he wins the challenge and $40,000 for his charity theĀ American Diabetes Association.

Now the fun really begins! Gary and Lisa start to bicker again in the boardroom! Gary says that Lisa repeatedly yelled at him and Lisa says she didn’t yell instead she justĀ spoke to Gary. Ivanka jumps in and says that she experienced this in real-time when she showed up on the set. Ivanka says that Gary was working in isolation however Penn and Lisa didn’t understand Gary’s vision. Donald Trump says that the LG executives didn’t like the ‘mechanical dog’ idea and the fact that Team Plan B didn’t highlight other products. In the end, The Donald fires Gary Busey.

Gary Busey finally showed that he was not a team player on the last couple of shows and it best that he was “fired” and let the rest of the cast do their job, this in my opinion

Although Gary can be comical and amusing at times, this time he showed that he is totally useless and not a tema player. Deserved to be fired…sad but required..

Gary Busey plays the Village Idiot so well. I believe that he lost too many brain cells in past motorcycle accidents.

Part of me wonders if he really is trying as best he can and is just out of his league, with what we see, him being in WAY over his head.

He does lie and manipulate, but also appears to have sincere hurt feelings at times, like so much of this seems to just zip right over him.

I was fairly sure that Gary would never win, but his antics could be entertaining at times.

He was NOWHERE as annoying to me as was Omarosa, or “Stealth-R-US” Phillip of Survivor. THOSE TWO take the cake for being annoying!

THAT’S it! On some future series of The Apprentice let Omarosa, and Phillip oppose each other, and choose teams from the other contestants!
