Taylor Swift Buys Mansion; Pays $17 Million Cash!

April 28, 2013 09:29 AM by Donna W. Martin

X Factor guest star, Taylor Swift recently purchased a new home in Rhode Island. But that’s not the half of it; she paid for the sprawling $17+ million mansion with cold hard cash! Keep reading for more details.

According to TMZ, Swift had been eyeing the property for some time and took a tour of the home on April 15. So what’s so special about this particular house? The Colonial style four-level Rhode Island mansion sits on 5.23 acres, 65 feet off the beach, and boasts more than 11,000-square-feet of luxury living space. Now that’s a house!

So what’s inside? The mansion has 8 enormous bedrooms, 10.5 baths, 8 fireplaces, a 36-foot parlor, and a 45-foot sunroom. There are also two kitchens, a huge main kitchen complete with all the latest bells and whistles and a service kitchen on the lower level with access to the seaside entertainment area and a large pool, plus, a half bathroom just for staff. The heated garage holds five cars and has a separate area for a workshop. And that’s just for starters; there are far too many amenities to list.

The original asking price was a hefty $20 million, but Swift was able to negotiate the price down to $17.75 million. Then she wired the money to seal the deal and movers were spotted at the house shortly thereafter.

What do you think of Swift’s new mansion? And what about the fact she paid cash for it? Must be nice, huh? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it so sound off in the comments section below and let us know what you think.

I don’t think a bank transfer is “cold hard cash” And why does cash have to be ”cold and hard”?

Good for her. Nothing wrong with working hard and reaping the benefit of that hard work. Sounds beautiful and she is young enough to one day fill it up with family and children. Nice job. Cash basis no need to worry if you are out of work in the future. It’s her’s and not part of the bank.

The New Residential Construction Report, known as house start on Wall Street, is a monthly report issued by the U.S. Census Bureau jointly with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The data is derived from surveys of homebuilders nationwide, and three metrics are provided: housing starts, building permits and housing completions. A housing start is defined as beginning the foundation of the home itself. Building permits are counted as of when they are granted.

Both building permits and housing starts will be shown as a percentage change from the prior month and year-over-year period. In addition, both data sets are divided geographically into four regions: Northeast, Midwest, South and West. This helps to reflect the vast differences in real estate markets in different areas of the country. On the national aggregates, the data will be segmented between single-family and multiple-unit housing, and all information is presented with and without seasonal adjustment. Housing starts and building permits are both considered leading indicators.

Cindy I don’t think she will keep it long enough to fill it up with family and children . h changes houses like she changes boy friends. With Taylor Swift , nothing lasts but a few weeks or months the most.

This is what you call a disgusting abuse of money. The surgeon who reconstructed my son’s skull deformity is lucky “if” he makes a million dollars a year. My son is so beautiful because of him. Doctors, police & fireman, who all save peoples lives will never see that kind of money & this immature girl can throw money around like it’s nothing. She may give to charity, but it is all a tax write off for the obscene money she rakes in & spends.

Does this house come with a man?

Not much house for THAT money. 11,000 sq. ft. is a small mansion. Must be really premium land values there. She will have to tour every few years to pay the taxes and upkeep. Seems to me there must be some better locations than that in the U.S.

She works hard for the money. I understand she oversees everything related to her Corproation and makes all of the decisions so she’s eliminates paying someone who doesn’t necessarily have her best interests at heart. Not my chickens not my dogs in expressing opinions just to bash her.

This is my second comment, the first one didn’t go through. I want to say Congratulations on your purchase. You work hard and deserve it. I only wish I could win enough with Power Ball to pay off my mortgage. Not lucky.
In August my granddaugher Shelby and her friend Laura are visiting me from Germany. In the event you could write a short note to say “hi” to them, I will see that they receive it. Just a thought.
Again, congratulations on your beautiful purchase.

    Hi Again:
I know you have better things to do than to write to your fans. Please forgive my suggestion in the above comment.

You have a great personality, not to mention talent, and it shows. Keep up the good work.

I am a little sick of these young entertainers who spend this kind of money.. on a mansion… because at Taylor’s age she needs this, right? How bout taking all that money and building some Habitat for Humanity homes, building a homeless shelter, put a wing on a children’s hospital, too many good uses to list, just not a mansion!

Congrats Taylor ! Taylor also donates millions of dollars to charity every year, all her proceeds from the song Ronan went to childhood cancer research. Last I heard this was America and people have the right to spend the money that they earn on whatever they choose to. Most stars of her caliber own multiple properties.I agree others such as teachers, police officers, and firefighters should earn much more but when did that become a 23-yr.old singers fault?

This is respone to Jill’ taylor has lived in the same apartment in nashvlle since she was 19, for 3 1/2 years, and has owned her house in Beverly Hills for 2 years. You use an article about buying a house to bash her when this is really none of our business. She is young why shouldnt she date? isnt that what you are supposed to do at her age?Everybody is so critical and mean these days! Geez, get a life and remember the golden rule please !
