Lindsay Lohan’s Taking Adderall In Rehab

May 07, 2013 11:43 AM by Donna W. Martin

Punk’d star Lindsay Lohan recently entered the Betty Ford Center where she will undergo a 90-day court ordered rehab treatment plan. But the troubled star is being allowed to take the drug Adderall while in rehab. What’s up with that? Keep reading for more details.

According to TMZ, prior to entering rehab, Lohan was adamant that she would only agree to enter rehab if she would be allowed to take Adderall, a drug commonly misused to suppress one’s appetite. But wait a minute; Lohan is not the one pulling the strings here. Her stay in rehab is court ordered so with or without Adderall, she has to go or face time in jail.

Sources close to Lohan have confirmed that the troubled star is still taking the drug Adderall despite the fact she’s currently in rehab at the Betty Ford Center. The source went on to say Lohan is being allowed to take the drug because she has a prescription and has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

However, doctors at the Betty Ford Center are making their own assessments as to whether or not Lohan has a need to use Adderall. And if the doctors disagree with the ADHD diagnosis, they will put a stop to her using it while in rehab.

What do you think about Lohan being able to take Adderall while in rehab? Should she be allowed to take the drug because she has a prescription? Or should she be made to stop taking all drugs while in rehab? We know you have an opinion and we want to hear it so sound off in the comments section and let us know where you stand.

Many people go from illegal drugs to legal drugs all getting the same effect. The sad thing is Linsey just isnt ready to get sober. She has done no real jail time because of who she is. The courts would much rather have her money than truely help her. The “drug programs” also can be manipulated with money and prestige. Doctors knwo this girl is not ADHD unless she is under the influence! But of course, again, money can buy them too. She may die before the day comes she is truely ready to get sober. It happens to more addicts than not. Statistically speaking, about 20% of addicts complete their life and die sober. I am praying for her to reach a bottom that doesnt kill her! She is a talented actress but now usless in the industry!

I think she is a big joke. She wants to take adderall because she is an ADDICT. Good luck LL, you are going to continue to have issues until one day you over do it and die. It is sad because she is such a pretty girl and really does have potential.

Ofcourse she wants Adderall! Kids take it all the time to get high! that’s her drug of choice when she cant get her alcohol, and how much you wanna bet the judge is stupid enough to let her have it! She gets everything else she wants, including escaping every criminal charge known to man!

If this was just some regular joe off the street there is no way they would be allowed to take adderall there. They also would have been sent to jail by now as well. This is all a big joke.

If she takes the medication while in rehab they will at lest keep close tabs on amounts with blood/urine samples.

The young lady is an addict and there is not getting around that. Because she is a starlet she has been passed around the system and it may continue until she is another Whitney.

It saddens me that this makes the news when there are truly people in need in the world that their causes get no attention.

She deserves the full extent of the law plus whatever happens to addicts if they cannot clean up when given ample opportunity to do so.

It is dangerous to stop some medications cold turkey, many have to be tapered off slowly and medical personnel know this. Some medications are needed while others may not be. I take methadone as a pain management drug and that is one that can not be simply pulled at a whim. Whatever the case with Lindsay, you can be sure that she will only get the amount the prescription is for, no more since the medication will be distributed by nurses like any other hospital.

Adderall is not primarily a diet pill. It’s used for ADD and ADHD, with a side effect being loss of appetite. She will be evaluated by the people there on whether or not she needs the stuff – but when someone is going to treatment, most places will agree to some things to get them in the door, and evaluate their need for what meds they are on after they get there. I’m betting she won’t be on the stuff when she leaves in 3 months.

I have experienced this first hand with my own family, she should be made to stop using all drugs my gosh its drug rehab. She will always be and addict and until she figures that out and gets help mentally and physically she will continue using.

I just looked up adderal. It is an anphetamine.

I am sure the doctor’s at Betty Ford will be looking into this and accessing whether she needs it. It is habit forming and she should not be taking it at all if she does not need it. I doubt she does, but of course it is up to them. I would hate to be around when she is weaned off!
A former nurse and I had problems of my own with addiction.

I actually believe that having the
Adderall in her system will help her to stay sober. Her brain is used to receiving a stimulant and having none at all could drive her back to the illegal drug market.

I spent some time in rehab myself. No drugs were allowed until we were seen by a medical doctor and a psychiatrist. They went through our bags and took away any products containing alcohol. I have been sober for 8 years now. I watch her and others ‘play the game’. We are quite good at it. Telling everyone what they want to hear. But doing as we wish. I met a lady in rehab. She had been to 6 other rehabs. Its not that the rehabs didn’t do their job. Its that the lady did not want to be sober. Her family wanted it for her. and that’s the whole thing. No matter how much we want someone to get sober, it only works when the addict wants it for themselves. Personally if this doesn’t wake her up, she needs to be in jail. They taught me in rehab, jails, intuitions, or the ground. That’s where I would end up if I didn’t get sober….ps I am about to graduate a 2 year pastry arts program. If I can do it, anyone can :)

She needs to stay in there long enough this time. Every time she ends up leaving and relapsing because it’s because she’s released too soon . The consequences have to be high and jail is high enough for me to want to stay in rehab. I hope the stakes are high enough for LL. Adderall needs to be weaned

Hmmmmm, how can the girl have ADHD?? She has been and even now is given more attention than anyone among the “celebrities”. And that is what is paying off her bills as of now. That day she won’t get any attention she can’t afford a place at Betty Ford any longer. She need to know Jesus because He is the only One that can clean up all her acts.

If it doesn’t threaten he life to get off the drug, she needs to be off of it. Speaking as a recovering addict who’s been recovering for 10 years, all she’s doing is replacing one high with another, it’s a hopeless circle that gets hell for tight when you start to get out of it. One day she’ll hit another car or a bridge abuttment and it will all be over. I just hope no one else is killed in the process.

I would love to be able to write the judges who are putting up with this spoiled rotten child who really needs to be put over somebodies knees! maybe the judges need that too. really sally? it didn’t stop her on the “outside” reality, she’s an idiot, especially her parents. I guess they don’t really want to have to put up with her for years, she’ll never survive that long on the path she is on now. and I’m really tired of hearing about her too. yeah, I know, just turn the page. got it! Just my opinion….

Drugs are drugs and as long as she is getting buzzed, she’s happy. Rehab means no drugs. She is digging her grave a foot at a time. She will most likely become remorseful for being locked up there for treatment, which may make her retaliate and do more drugs and alcohol than before. It happens to alot of court ordered lockdowns.

Lindsey is just a sad sad case. If someone with common sense does not get a handle on her addiction soon, she’s will just be another statistic (sadly to say). I hope someone will wake up and give her the right kind of of treatment. I’m getting tired of hearing about Lindsey going to rehab. Get her some serious help soon or it will really be too late. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE…..WAKE UP!!!!!!!

If CraLo is allowed to take her prescription Adderall while in rehab, then the other patients should be allowed to take their prescription painkillers and xanax. After all, a prescription is a prescription. The judge needs to just throw her ass in jail and throw away the key for about 2 years so she can clean out her system the old fashioned way like the other junkies who get thrown in jail. Because she is considered a celebrity, she is being given special treatment and that alone will kill her because she already told Piers Morgan the day before she went to rehab that it was “pointless.” One thing for sure, she might get her Adderall but exactly the amount she is prescribed. She will not be allowed to pop them all day like she apparently has been doing for years. Adderall is a pharmacuetical methamphetamine (look at the label and rx insert). I know this because my child was put on this drug and she lost about 40 lbs because she wouldn’t eat. Lindsey is a speed freak and when she’s been up for days, hence the above photo, she has to take downers to be able to sleep. Adderall is a dangerous drug!!

She has a legal prescription for Adderall. As far as we know, she has never abused nor been accused of abusing Adderall. She should absolutely be allowed to take her physician prescribed medication while in rehab. If you take that away from her, you are setting her up for failure. If after rehab is completed, and Lindsay and her doctor decide to evaluate her need for the medication at that point, and they decide she doesn’t require the treatment any longer, then and only then she should ween slowly off the medication.

I don’t seem to understand, what exactly does a celebrity have to do to get locked up. It seems as if the whole 3 strikes your out, doesn’t apply in Hollywood. Its bad to say, but if she don’t change, one day we will read about the life and death of Lindsay Lohan.

omg…when will “celebrities” get the same treatment the rest of society gets? if a regular person gets arrested for shoplifting, they go to jail..she’s been in every kind of trouble & not ONE judge has made her accountable for her actions..it seems whatever mess she’s gotten herself into, nothing ever comes of it..what a great message to send to young girls everywhere~

I feel that entering rehab should require to stop all drug use. Isn’t rehab suppose to be an escape from the outside world and it’s tempting drugs? Prescription or not, if she is going to take recovery seriously or show that she is taking the offense seriously she should stop all drug use and live life from with a fresh start because she was given that opportunity(though not well deserved).
Celebrities have it easy when it comes to legal hardships, that’s why they feel they are able to have all the freedom to do what they please as there is no real consequence. Such BS. Where are good examples of responsible people anymore?

WOW, YOU GUYS “KNOW IT ALL!” she’s going to die. she pops adderall ALL DAY . . . (right, melody?). most of you can’t spell, type, etc. she’s a celebrity that can’t get to court because of the media. you all have commented and are POSITIVE she is an adderall junkie (although — this is the first we’ve heard of this drug, don’t know how you all got SO DAMN INFORMED. personally, i believe she is being treated to all this “court attention” for the sake of the COURT! what a way to get your name out there. pick on a stupid little child star.

“a rx drug is a rx drug . . .” uh, no it’s not. if she fell on the sidewalk in rehab and ended up with a nasty infection . . . “walk it off, lindsey, this is rehab . . .” PALEASE. you people do not know her. you get your information from tmz and the likes. then you pass judgment. you don’t know her. leave her alone. it’s her life, she is an adult. keep her out of the courts so that they can do what they are there to do.

75% of the damn high school is on adderall. THROW ALL THE KIDS IN JAIL. those scummy little addicts!

get your OWN life and stay out of ll’s.

ALL medical information by law is to be kept confidential per HIPPA Law. I want to know how this information leaked out. Someone could be facing the loss of their job, their license being revoked and time in jail. Whatever else anyone may think of her, she has a right to her medical confidentiality.

Ignorant population in America, living by what they read, hear and assume. Adderall is a drug that has helped countless individuals overcome a condition that can be very disruptive to accomplishing every day tasks that are simple for most. It is miserable and a very real chemical unbalance which adderall corrects. It is sad how it is perceived as ‘bad drug’ when it has made such a huge difference for the good,in countless lives–far more than the misuse. Thanks to the few who abuse it coupled with the mass of idiots who propagate their erroneous views based on nothing scientific or factual, a truly successful therapy is stigmatized. Those who need it should not be judged! All of the stupid people in America who think they’re experts because they feed endlessly on media need to spend some time doing actual research or gaining education since they are so interested in what everyone else is doing. Lindsay is a human being with very real struggles, and I hope she overcomes! Have all the people behind the rude comments never struggled? Has no one failed or fallen? Leave this girl alone you idiots.

Adderall is questionable. I think alcohol, cocaine, and street drugs are worse. I have met people who abused these things and were very dangerous. Adderall can be monitored, but it needs weekly checks and outpatient therapy. If it gets her away from alcohol and street drugs and out of prison, that is the same treatment anyone would get, previous to insurance cuts. I would love to see her as a mental health advocate like Pattie Duke or Catherine Zeta Jones. Mental illness does not discriminate. Some people have an attitude that all prescription meds are bad. It just depends on the person, their attitude, and willingness to follow a recovery plan. Adderall may not be the right one, but it is a class C and if she was able to get multiple prescriptions monthly then the healthcare provider was negligent because refills cannot be called in. The DEA monitors them heavily. It usually takes a combination of meds, and that one alone may not be enough. I do not know anything about her, but this is very common, she is just famous.

We should not even have this information and it really doesn’t matter. It really doesn’t matter what the public thinks because it’s being handled and will be addressed I’m sure at a point in her treatment, but this is really not something that should be brought to the public.
